Holy crap that was a gut wrencher . First glance I thought the board was a draped coffin. Shit shit shit so glad it wasn’t true.Ryeguy wrote:
Just remembered I snapped a photo of today’s board too. It seemed like the appropriate choice.

I was in a kinda patriotic warrior mood after listening to a ton of punk music while training for a marathon, so this was the design we came up with.
The dimensions are my idea of an old guy short board for sub-optimal waves. It works great in 4 - 6 foot waves where a long board would be too much. I can still do cut back turns with it, but the broad nose is more forgiving than a sharp nosed short board. “Hyper-sluggo” is about right for the board.
Anyone who would take a wrist shot in front of a flag draped coffin deserves the mother of all sack taps.

^^^ Thanks, T!
Yes, kinda fishy, kinda eggy. The broad thumbnail tail gives it a bit of lift in crap waves and it carries its width forward so it gives good float and easy paddling for my old shoulders. It's all about putting the foam in the right places for the performance you want. This is why knowing a good shaper is key. They'll listen and build a board for your waves and your strengths and weaknesses.
I've got one 7'4" board with a big more aggressive shape, but I need bigger waves to make that one work for me. In my mind I can still ride those narrow, dart-like, boards, but as I inch closer to 50 I realize those days are probably behind me.
I just am happy to still be able to get out there.

They kind of got out of hand. Honestly, I like every one of them, and most aren’t worth very much. Why sell a $200 watch that you like and wear? Seems kind of silly to me. So I’ll just keep adding to the pile as long as Seiko keeps pumping out new versions and I can make fun mods with them.jeckyll wrote:10?!?CGSshorty wrote:Thanks, Brice. 10 Turdles.Jeep99dad wrote:Wow.
