Vintage itch... scratched.
After being bitten by the vintage bug a few weeks ago, I finally landed a piece to add to my collection. I was looking for something dressy I could wear for business and didn't have anything vintage. This beauty is in pristine condition and I landed it for less than $600 which I felt was a bargain.

Looks great ! I love vintage longines - so much richer designs than the modern incarnation.

Re: Vintage itch... scratched.
I think that statement holds true for many/most manufacturers, although I have to give props to Longines for their Heritage collection, which I think includes some really beautiful vintage-inspired watches at great prices. I've said this before, but I think one could build a really nice watch collection from their Heritage line alone, starting with the Flagship Heritage:

Nice watch. Vintage watch collecting can get out of hand fast. My last vintage dress watch I picked up and it was my birth year with box and papers. And a lot of nice vintage watches can still be had for under a 1000 bucks on brand names cheaper than new ones if you go on the hunt took me a year to find a birth year watch at a fair price and in great shape. Once I got the vintage bug it never left.

Flip it over and I bet that nice medallion that's on vintage is not there and a total shame.logan2z wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 6:28 amI think that statement holds true for many/most manufacturers, although I have to give props to Longines for their Heritage collection, which I think includes some really beautiful vintage-inspired watches at great prices. Here is a interesting read on the older Longines conquest it had a more different medallion back in the form of a fish. There both cool watches the slightly newer one with date and older one with out date not many years apart.

Longines also has a reissue of the Conquest:
Re: Vintage itch... scratched.
Here is past sell on Ebay to check on prices. Also they show up for sell on the Omega forum once in a while. Just don't buy from south America. What some vintage collectors do is buy and never service them and newbie's first jump into vintage then they wonder why it's not working right. If your going to wear it on a regular bases service it with a reliable watchmaker who knows how to service a vintage watch and they will keep time just about as good as a new watch and do it after you buy it. It will be just as good as a new watch and be problem free for 4-5 years before the next service. I only have one new watch in the whole collection. And never trust a ebay seller who said it was serviced have it checked out to see if true and service it if he lied. Just a few pointers.

Mike - I thought that watches from your birth year had sun dials?River Rat wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 7:37 amNice watch. Vintage watch collecting can get out of hand fast. Re: Vintage itch... scratched.
are you sure that's the vintage one? I've had a re-issue and the movement was exactly the same as yours, and also had the L8xx number on the rotor, which I don't believe were on the vintage ones. Also, the vintage ones uses Tritium for lume whereas the re-issue was superluminova. Your's doesn't have any "T"'s on the dial.
Regardless, they are great watches and the hesalite crystal is a nice touch. I actually prefer the modern re-issue to the vintage as they are available in much nicer shape.
