Anything with a given name as a part of it. I'll never own a watch with

Carl
Karl
Steve (SteveRal worst name ever, though maybe a tie with Huey/Lewy)
Frank
Hugo
Raymond
Girard
Roger
Chris, Christopher, CHR
Arnold
Etc

As part of the name.

Than there's Festina which looks like Fistina.

Junkers (junk!)
Geckota (just ridiculous, big and fat female Gecko)
Monta (almost "get in" or "get on" in Spanish)
Ball (hehe, hehe, he said ball)
Bagelsport (eating contest)

Yeah, one of the smartest things Hans Wilsdorf did when starting his watch company was using a completely made up name purely because it sounds really good coming off the tongue. No baggage associated with the name at all.

Movado - not a bad name, but means "always in motion" in some made up turn of the century language called Esperanto.

Names only bother me if they're bad to an extreme. like bagelsport.

i'm more annoyed by bad logo design (or dial positioning). like borealis' generic times new roman. or christpher ward at 9pm with open space at 12. i don't even mind the "logo" font for CW, just can't stand it at 9.

It's full names that bother me, Ward would have been fine. I'm so glad Helmut didn't add his first name to his watches

Yes and yes.

Some of the posts are funny though...like Mido. I actually think the name is pretty innocuous.

Funny, I'd have thought their worst would be the "skin diver."

That’s got to be the craziest one. I can’t believe they picked that name for it.

I might make an exception for George Daniels or Roger W. Smith.

Good point, though you probably wouldn't have to. George just had "Daniels" on watches and Roger has "R.W", so only a surname and Initials (which I find less offensive, e.g. F.P., than having Roger or François on a dial). Never understood the whole designer full name thing, though I would have failed miserably with a career in marketing or sales, so I'm probably not a good source for naming techniques ;)

At least they don’t market it as a ladies’ watch.

Not a brand name, but "railmaster". Don't care how great or aesthetically pleasing it is, but couldn't possibly own one.

"Hey, what's that watch you're wearing?"
"It's a 'Seamaster', master of the sea!"
"Coool!"

"Hey, what's that watch you're wearing?"
"It's a 'Railmaster', master of the railway"
" . . . "
"You know, trains and railways"
" . . . "
Regards

Steve

Trust me, there’s a weird group of people that would see this as a positive and those people are referred to by railroaders as Foamers.
