Denver GTG today

Post by BacoNoir » Sun Oct 07, 2018 3:18 pm

Here are some pictures from the Mile High Watches group get together today. Wide variety from vintage to modern and microbrand to big names, and every thing in between.

This is Terry’ infamous ODB Air King.

I decided to let him eat in peace. There were ~25 of us drinking and talking a few tables away and I figured if he wanted to socialize he’d have come over to see what the fuss was about. Couple of the guys went to talk to him when I was leaving.

I think Terry knew him. His Calamity Diver (black/blue/green dials) were nice. Bezels were a bit hard to turn but the proportions and quality looked good. Uses ETA 2824’s too.

Man the DWC crowd goes straight for the jugular! I thought it looked great IRL. The only thing I didn’t like was the tight bezel. Seeing the price now, I agree it’s over priced. That said, Nick said he does the assembly himself.

Great time.

Two of us went and sat with Jon after it was less busy. Nice guy. Noticed my Panerai. Wondered what we were doing, selling or hanging out admiring.

I often contemplate the "nuclear option" of selling everything for a 1655 and this doesn't help.

on the other hand, the Railmaster and Gruen are choice

Ginault bracelet. I think they are around $180 new. You might be able to get a sub knock off version on ebay though.

It was great GTG. I agree with Roger on the Orion divers. But they were really nice for sure. Due to the size they actually disappeared on the wrist. Nick is on a tour to the East Coast and then down to Texas if recall. So he will be stopping at quite a few GTG's.

Roger great to meet your wife!

I have the same thoughts about a 1655. Unfortunately, given the way prices have gone in the last few years, that ship has sailed. The 16570 is a nice substitute and still one of the best values in Rolex. But you don’t get the cool orange hand or the unique dial.
