Bee's

Post by toxicavenger » Thu Oct 04, 2018 7:20 pm

This year I started to take on trying my hand at beekeeping. It is pretty easy and doesn't require a ton of work.

I just harvested the honey today. I got 8 full frames of it. I learned somethings today that I will do next year. I have to say this is some of the best honey I have ever tasted. And believe it or not I am not a huge honey lover.

Here is a video I posted on IG https://www.instagram.com/p/BohkwUNH21Y ... toxicnatos

I dig it. :salute:

That's cool Terry! I've thought about doing that too.

Bee's

That’s cool! It’s a great hobby and very ecologically important. Been wanting to give bee keeping a go myself. My Dad used to have about six hives when I was a kid.

Local honey is great for allergies. We buy a lot from the farmers' market.

My buddy used to sell his at the store front of a restaurant I used to run.

One day his queen died or flew off and he lost the entire colony.

My neighbor does this hobby glad he does it his bees do a good job of pollinating my apple trees. Apple tree's need different type apple tree's and be cross pollinated to produce apple's. Looks like a good hobby. The last two years I had a bumper crop of apples due to those bee's.

i've been thinking about this on and off for the last year or so. state of virginia has a program where they'll give you some of the equipment you need, so i signed up for that. don't know if i'll get accepted, but figured it was worth a try to get started.

Will you be selling any? My wife has been on a tea and honey kick.

I’d trade you my hot sauce for a small jar if interested.

We got our honey/frames back today, so I have spent most of the day cleaning up frames while my wife and daughter started jarring the honey. A lot of it is going to family members. If i have any left over I will let you all know.

If you are interested then check out these short clips:

It has been a great experience and we look forward to working with them next year also.
