Well, if you wanted a PAM that's a little different...
Then check out the new PAM 790 and 791. Apparently inspired by a pendulum clock that sat in Panerai's original boutique in Florence.

Here we go again Panerai, 47mm is over! How can they not get that? And that's coming from me with an ~8" wrist.
Make more 44mm models for the love of God

That dial looks like it has no business being in a case that style. As Art said too, way too large.

I kinda like it. Make it 40mm, thin, and tweak the proportions. Basically, change everything about it and I still wouldn't buy it.

Re: Well, if you wanted a PAM that's a little different...
As I've said before, I don't think the people who run Richemont/Panerai are completely bereft of business acumen. I have to think that if all of their 47mm models were complete flops then they'd stop making them. You may not be a buyer but I have to believe they're still out there
Is the Big Pilot dead or are people still buying them? I believe it's still a very desirable model and actually wears bigger than the PAM 372 on my wrist.
Re: Well, if you wanted a PAM that's a little different...
Well, Bonati resigned for a reason. 372, 422, 305, 389 values are tanking( lol we had that argument last year, I said 372 are 5-5500 and you didn't believe ). As much as you like 372 and as much as I like looking at 372 from the far, 47mm models are over. I'm going to predict that just like at SIHH 2018, next year's SIHH 2019 they're going to introduce more 42-44 models and slowly phase out 47'slogan2z wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 11:06 amAs I've said before, I don't think the people who run Richemont/Panerai are completely bereft of business acumen. I don't track watch values because I don't treat watches as investments. But if the 372 is selling for $5500 then that means I've worn my watch for four years and only lost about 20%. I’ll never own another Richemont product.

Link below. I also had bad service experiences with an IWC and a Panerai. The Panerai came back from a polishing (and just a polishing, no need to open it up) with a thumb print on the inside of the crystal. It was sent back, then returned with someone else’s worn out strap on it (went in on a new rubber, came back on seriously worn gator).Panerai7 wrote:Flooded as the one in the review? I’ve had too many negative experiences with Richemont to ever give them another chance.
Polaris....just in!

Re: Well, if you wanted a PAM that's a little different...
Sorry for the copy/paste but are you freaking serious? That's what it says in the owners manual of a sports watch that comes with 200M WR and a diving rubber strap and a fn helmet on the caseback????hoppyjr wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 1:00 pmLink below. " I also found it disappointing that a sports watch, rated to 20 atm, had a disclaimer in the owners manual advising not to take the watch diving and even to avoid jumping into a swimming pool from the diving board."
This is pathetic, I don't who dives with these and who doesn't. This is why you can't get a Rolex at MSRP while you can pick these up 25-30% off and no one wants them. Boo ZheZhe, Boo. Whoever was in charge of JLC Polaris line should be fired.
Re: Well, if you wanted a PAM that's a little different...
I kinda like it, too. I do like the art deco-styled dial and hands, but 47mm would be obscene on my wrist, and I still wouldn't be tempted at 40-44mm.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 10:05 amI kinda like it. On the upside there's only 300 of each being made. Hopefully they'll see the light and make something a little smaller.

OMG, there's another one in that thread that's all fogged up. So sad. Where's Andrew with his "no one dives with these, no one swims with these. Are you serious you would be afraid to wash your hands"hoppyjr wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 1:00 pmLink below. I also had bad service experiences with an IWC and a Panerai.
