I always thought that the Eleven James idea was a bit strange. I don't like the idea of wearing a watch I don't actually own and I've always felt weird about the idea of even borrowing someone's watch to try it out away from the owner's presence.

“but one has to assume that law enforcement could pretty easily take care of any would-be thieves – Eleven James presumably has names, addresses, and phone numbers for anyone with a watch, right?”
Good luck with that. This is a civil matter, not criminal.

I would love to be a fly on the wall when some Eleven James guy calls the PD in East Woabegone WI and asks them to track down a John Smith about an overdue watch rental. That would be a fun conversation to listen to.

I’d guess Eleven James has credit card information and would more likely just charge the card on file for the value of the watch.

Shit, if you're a 5711 "borrower" right now, you could offload it for serious cash and still come out ahead when they charge you MSRP to "reclaim" it.

I see a lot of flippers around the forums. Dam you think this would of worked with some were you flip your watches on a regular bases and don't have to sell it when you want another it's done for you all ready by being a member to this Eleven James and mite of saved a flipper money every time a flipper sells a watch he looses a few bucks so renting a watch mite of been cheaper . Me I am not a flipper I would of thought a waist of money.

That business model wasn't sustainable.

Even if they had succeeded in getting new money to keep afloat, there's just nothing there.
