Mido's Ocean Star 600M Diver

Post by AtomicTom » Mon Aug 20, 2018 9:40 am

Hey everyone, did you catch this new Ocean Star which is in the works
from Mido by chance?

The Ocean Star Diver 600M will first be available in two versions it seems.
With a choice of a stainless blue dialed, and bezel version, or black dial,
and bezel PVD finish model. With just a few of the may specs including
a 43.5mm case size, AR coated sapphire crystals, sporty accents, luminous
markers, and hands, and COSC certified automatic too.

Have a couple pictures below...

Dig the shit outta those hands. Wonder if they fixed the Spongebob-inspired starfish motif on the back...

Based on the history of their pricing this will be a steal from some Joma for about 700

Lovely looker. I have always admired their dive watches but each missed the mark for me with one or two styling aspects. This one seems to tick all the boxes.

I thought they looked familiar ;)

The rest of the watch looks pretty generic to me

The Ocean Star releases last year was 42mm and less than 12mm thick and was supe easy wearing. Was anyone out there asking for a bigger, thicker MIDO?

Also, here is an Ocean Star that I owned nearly a decade ago. Hands were similar then.

The blue one is exactly what blue Pelagos should have looked like. And they saved the lume marker next to the date window. Getting it

Agree. Have never warmed to the flat plastic look of the blue Pelagos. Definitely into this one as well.

I had the OS Titanium and it was a very nice and accurate watch.

Not sure about the thickness, but the dial layout is more balanced without that huge day window. I like the these.

True, last years version really should have had a black date wheel.

 Thanks Matt, so glad you, and everyone are liking this one so much !

Seems like every time Mido comes up with a new model it outdoes the one before
it. Plus they seem to have more, and more to choose from every year with new
exciting watches added into the mix. Just are a fun company, or brand to watch
imho.

I dislike the bezel a lot...the 25, 35, and 55 is a total fail for me.

If they had just had the 0-15 minute markings and regular hashes at the 30 and 45, the watch would rate a pass from me (but still a no-buy because it's rather generic).

I'd take the new new Captain Cook III over this if this were a head-to-head even with the oversize.

Well, actually the 42mm and less than 12mm thick would be too small and thin for me. It would feel like a woman's watch on my wrist. So I do like the thicker proportions of this new one.

Went back to take another look at the bezel; works ok for me.
