Quick release spring bars, be careful
I helped this guy out on figuring how to fix his watch. The lever on the quick release spring bar actually broke off. So the bar essential became a shouderless spring bar.

Oh and the only way to get them out of course is to use dyke's/side cutters and cut them out.hollywoodphil wrote: ↑Fri Aug 17, 2018 9:39 amGood tip. I never trusted those type of springs, they usually come included with MIC ebay 10-dollar straps or their resellers so how durable can they be when a set of quality spring bars cost almost that.

Re: Quick release spring bars, be careful
not to mention they only come in one tip size at .8mm. spring bars aren't a one size fits all. and most strap you buy with this spring bar if they fail you can't replace them. you have to throw the strap away. or cut it out

Re: Quick release spring bars, be careful
I remember 10 years ago Invicta showed those springs for their chicks watches and included 4-5 fake croc straps to change on their Lupah with quick release bars pre-installedtoxicavenger wrote: ↑Fri Aug 17, 2018 9:56 amnot to mention they only come in one tip size at .8mm. spring bars aren't a one size fits all. and most strap you buy with this spring bar if they fail you can't replace them. you have to throw the strap away. or cut it out

Plus because of that quick release feature the strap cannot rotate around the spring bar. The strap and the spring bar have to rotate together in the case holes potentially creating more tension and wear out prematurely

Re: Quick release spring bars, be careful
JLC has been using these on a lot of their new watches, which seems kinda weird to me. Renders an extremely expensive Camille Fournet strap unwearable if that thing breaks. So lame.

The Barton Elite silicone have these, I just yank out the little quick change piece and switch to regular spring bars. The bands are super comfy.

Not entirely sure how women in comfortable shoes can help with a spring bar.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Fri Aug 17, 2018 9:41 amOh and the only way to get them out of course is to use dyke's/side cutters and cut them out.hollywoodphil wrote: ↑Fri Aug 17, 2018 9:39 amGood tip. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

I like that they sell that strap with two different lengths. But they love the quick change straps.para13cord wrote: ↑Fri Aug 17, 2018 2:41 pmThe Barton Elite silicone have these, I just yank out the little quick change piece and switch to regular spring bars. The bands are super comfy.
I had a request from a watch company to produce nato straps with integrated quick release spring bars. They can't get i through their head that it is a bad idea.

Re: Quick release spring bars, be careful
If the quick release "tab" breaks off, can't you just remove it like any regular spring bar? Are the ends flanged?

No flanges. They are essential a shoulderless spring bar. You have to cut them out.watchingyou wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2018 5:15 amIf the quick release "tab" breaks off, can't you just remove it like any regular spring bar? Are the ends flanged?

Re: Quick release spring bars, be careful
Never had an issue with mine through the years and super easy to swap straps.
Re: Quick release spring bars, be careful
Great catch Terry, along with tip for sure ! It's amazing how delicate, and dangerous
spring bars can be. ..It's one of the reasons I never really change straps very much.
Wonder how long down the road until we see smart spring bars, and we can say...
"Spring Bar", or "Alexa" .."Engage" , or "Disengage", or something like that.
