There's 8 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

I'll never understand the thinking behind an argument like the one made in this video. Don't treat the hobby like the stock market where tracking values becomes the primary focus. If you like a watch buy it to wear it and enjoy it. If it's 'market value' decreases over time, then so be it. Does anyone buy a luxury car, which typically costs several times the price of a high-end watch, and expect to get their money out or make a profit? Why would it be any different with watches?

And his logic is badly flawed. PAM is f*ucked because a bottom-feeding dealer will buy a PAM for $2K and sell it for $5K? That means that someone is willing to buy the watch for $5K - ergo, the PAM market isn't dead. If the owner of the watch wasn't lazy and was willing to sell the watch privately, he'd find a buyer at $5K.

I still wear and enjoy my PAMs. I don't track their values and have no idea how much they've depreciated. But I can almost guarantee that it's less than the Audi that I bought for my wife at 10x the price two years ago

I wore my 233 earlier , before the bracelet for the 1163 came in. I like it. And I am not phased if Archie hates it.

Market prices have settled down. If anything I think they've begun to move higher. People who wanted to move on from the brand have already done so.

yup - buy what you like and enjoy it. i dont expect to make any money on watches. Some hold their value better than others and some actually appreciate. Some move quick and some don't. I've learned to enjoy them while i have them.

I very much enjoyed the early PAM's...when they stuck to their roots with the base models. They haven't held my interest since the PAM 127 Fiddy. Doesn't mean they are not high quality...but they definitely took a turn in a different direction after the Richemont takeover. A more generic, boring direction IMHO.
