Talk To Me About The Dievas Focal.

Post by TRUE LIBERTY » Sun Jun 24, 2018 5:30 pm

Recently learned of this brand searching for hardened cases. And after buying the fully tegimented U1 last year I just was not impressed with the loose bezel, weak loom and not so good clasp on the bracelet. Anyways the Focal design and size is really to my liking but the only things about it I can find here about it is a broken bezel insert and another one where pip falls off on the bezel during a dive. These were several years ago when the watch was a new design so just wondering about these issues and if this is a watch worth spending over a grand on?

Lume wasn’t all that great on the one I had.

Nice size. Comfortable.

I had the vortex(same case) and had a U1 mod applied to it because it was boring and because the U1 is my favorite watch, notwithstanding your comments

Pretty decent for the price

You must have had more than one, because I swear I bought one from you at some point and it didn't have that mod. At least I think it was you.

Good watch, wears large.

The Focal is a nice watch. The inserts are notorious for falling out, though.

Much appreciated, than the bezel insert problem has not been solved. Do not like the watch as much but think I will pick me up a Damasko Sub 1 or the blue dialed one when it is ready. I know that one is not liked here whatsoever from the funny comments I have read though.

I believe that Anders made a point that with the Vortex, he upgraded the design of the bezel to improve the bezel insert to the bezel ring attachment to be more secure.

I think the focal is a slightly different design to the vortex.

I have had probably 10+ kobold smgs, and 3 vortex (i am insane), and have never had a bezel insert come off or a problem with the bezel function. but I have seen the pics from others.

If you like the focal or vortex, I would not let that hold you back.

Looks like another boring microbrand using the same case as a Kobold.

But I’ve never owned one so my opinion isn’t worth much.

These cases are fabricated in Germany, if that means anything to you. Certainly different than most Microbrands.

Heck after Kobold went uptown raising the prices what was it over 10 or 15 years ago announcing it on the forums I personally never saw there styles again. And I do not think Kobold hardens their cases but maybe I am wrong since I never liked there dials even back than. This dial on the Focal for some reason calls out to me but I buy one watch a year putting away a little a week spending somewhere from 1100 to 1600 so between my knives and guns I gotta make sure with my limited funds I am getting something I like because I don't do the flipping thing.

Not particularly. They’re still essentially catalog cases. Meh. But to each his own.

I thought the case wore terribly. One of the most uncomfortable watches I have owned. And yes, the pip on mine fell out on a low-vis night dive...

Well I had really loved the of the look of the Sinn U1 and bought the tegimented one last year saving more than normal. But I did not do research properly and found the tension clasp disappointing. The lume to weak. And the bezel annoying the way it was loose. Sent it back the next day. The good news is there was a flash sale of the Orient Saturation Diver for 799 and that left me cash for some knives and the gun show last December.

Yeah, if I'm looking at a German tool watch, it is Sinn first, then Damasko.

Correct me if I am wrong but I do not think they to do the case hardening on all there watches. And basically besides the U1 for me personally I find every last one just horrid looking. Please do not beat me up just a personal taste!

Search for “Tegimented”.
They have quite a few models.

And if you think the regular U1 is the best looking watch in their lineup then you have some serious preference issues.
