I really like this Zenith

Post by ericf4 » Thu Jun 21, 2018 8:51 am

Anyone seen in person? Id likely be more into the bracelet version though. I think im gonna shelf the AP idea for now as im becoming soured on the lack of availability not to mention any discounting.

I saw it in person. Admittedly it was a pre-production version but I was not impressed with the appearance of the dial or the case. I'm not really a fan of open-worked dials so take my comments with a grain of salt.

Are you basing your 'lack of availability' comment on what the guy at ECJ Luxe said, or have you called around? I'd be surprised if you couldn't find a 15400 in stock somewhere.

II called another AD from the website and they also didn't have any. That said, i didn't try any others apart from those 2 yet.

I like it, titanium and surprisingly easy to read for a open dial, plus a cool 50 hertz chronograph

edit: I haven't seen one like Andrew has so to keep things in balance you can take my post also with a grain of salt

Saw it in person, nice but a little busy for me, couldn't tell time at a glance.

Try to pry Wu's JLC Extreme Lab from him .... just as much history and credibility as the Big 3 plus an open dial like the Zenith - problem solved???

I pinged the salesperson at the AD I purchased from to see if they have any. I haven't heard back yet, but I just noticed that AP is missing from the list of brands that they carry so they may no longer be a dealer.

I checked the website of the only AP AD I know of local to me. Only two models showing as in stock - an offshore and a 33mm quartz model that's listed as "on hold."

Not a huge fan of that Zenith, but I don't really like open-worked dials either. The case shape is nice.

Extreme Lab is definitely an option for sale (coincidentally almost listed it yesterday), and for less than a 3-hand Nautilus will cost you :).

yeah also the diff between $6.8k and god knows what perhaps $30k......I LOVE watches, im just not sure i could nut up that much dough without feeling nauseous...Im no baller like you guys here. I just play one on TV

Im generally most comfy around 10k to perhaps 15k range or less. Patek is likely outta range for me but AP was close to range etc. That JLC is in another range, not mine.

I'd stop by Maurice's and try this one first before committing to that case/bracelet style. Matt's ZheZhe is on another level to pove my point that those 3 are not top 3 but 3 of

That Zenith Chrono is Amazing, the mvt is so cool but I’ve never been a fan of open/skeleton dials.

Just confirmed with my AD I can get whatever AP within a month between 25 and 30% off depending on the model. So it's nowhere near the hysteria surrounding Rolex and its availability.
Found a pic of trying on Matt's JLC, it really is something special, Matt's a lucky bastard :)

Again, it may be because I saw a pre-production piece, but I didn't think the case finishing was that great
