Or do they think This is really going to solve the “grey problem”? Because all it’s going to do is make it worse, since greys will be the only places you can actually find one of these watches.
Not if there is no AD network. If the watches are sold in company-owned boutiques only, there will be no grey market.

Given what I've been seeing (elimination of ADs in favor of brand-owned boutiques, watches available at the brand's e-commerce site only for the first few months after release, etc.), I think the days of the independent AD are numbered.

I think AD’s are suffering the fate of stand alone retail everywhere.

And now that SCOTUS has ruled on online taxes for purchases, it’s going to be interesting to watch the greys as well.

Yeah, the tax thing is interesting. Haven't read the decision, but it was 5-4 and not strictly along party lines, either.

If anyone is thinking about buying a watch online and wants to avoid sales tax, you'll probably want to do it sooner rather than later.

I'm so glad I don't have any desire to own any of these bracelet-integrated watches.
This is the sanest reply here and the one I agree with most.

I'm happily past owning a 5711 and if Eric is contemplating an AP in the near future, the time to get one may be shrinking.

Cockeyed date window ruins an otherwise lovely watch. Put the date window at 3 or 6 and you have a winner.

Not until they cool it with all the Maltese crosses. Crusader man jewelry went out with, well, the crusades.
