New release by Helson. I don't quite get the point/

I just noticed a new entry in their website, and I couldn't find any previous discussions on this one. Neither old nor recent, so this must be a new offering altogether...
Helson Hammerhead.
(pics from Helson's website)
Specs are good: 42mm, 22mm lug size, 51mm L2L, ETA 2824-2.
Everyone has different views on "Homages", but personally, this is crossing the line from Homage to Copy for me.
I am a bit baffled. I mean, this watch exists today reissued by the original manufacturer, and to a pretty decent accuracy to the old one. I don't see the Helson version bringing anything new to the table.
But most of all, the Longines Legend diver can be bought new for around 1500 euros/U$S. Much less pre-loved. Yes, it's twice as much, but hardly a major investment considering it's the real deal from an established swiss company with a proper after sales support network.
I'm a recent convert and new Helson fan, but with this one I frankly don't see the point. Am I missing something ? Opinions ?

Oh hell yeah I'm getting that. can't find a no date LLD, Polaris is a poser joke of a diver, Alpina has a f-ed up date window at 4:15. This is it for the compressor.
Thanks for the heads up

wasn't there a LLD no date for sale here recently? Perhaps the price seemed a bit nutty if i recall, unless thats actually the going rate recently.

Not sure but I'm sure it was 500-750 more than it was last retail
This one has screwed in lug bars, shorter 51mm than LLD which is nice.

the no dates sold out quickly and the secondary market on them has been stupid. i have no idea why longines made that such a limited run.

I agree. I lump this in with the MM300 Sharkey rip off diver.

i got no respect for a "brand" who literally rips off like this. Taking inspiration is one thing but this aint that....

It's a blatant copy but it's frustrating that there's nothing like this out there by anyone else including Longines, the one with the date is a no-go

I get that ppl prefer the no-date version and Longines is not making it anymore. But to me, the phantom date-change position of the keyless is a constant reminder that it is NOT a true non-date watch.
I'd still rather put up with the date window and go for the real thing.

Just to be clear, I'm not judging you because you want to get one. Hell, to get the same watch (pretty much) at half the price, i understand....That said, Helson should be ashamed.

It's not about the price with me you know that
I would pay the exact same amount for what LLD NO Date retails for.
if anyone has a BNIB LLD No Date with over a year warranty left in their safe, let me know
if anyone knows of another company that makes a compressor style diver with screw down crowns, domed crystal and no date, let me know as well

It's a shame that Alpina doesn't make a no date version of this:

Or has a clue not to position the date window at 3:45

Had the grey dial for a few weeks on loan and couldn't live with the date window.

Same lugs as on the date version, they still sell that.
