New Oris Aquis Date Brown and Green

Post by AtomicTom » Mon May 14, 2018 9:37 am

Did anyone see Oris's new Aquis Date Brown and Green by chance?

These Aquis dates have either a cool sunray brown, or green dial
with Super Luminova filled markers, and hands. Plus uni-directional
rotating diver's bezels in polished brown, or green ceramic with 60
minute timer, and Super Luminova filled zero marker.

Added to that, you have 43.5mm stainless steel cases, AR coated sapphire
crystals, 300M WR, bracelet, rubber, or leather strap, and Oris caliber 733
(a base Sellita SW 200-1) behind an exhibition case-back too.

Just a few pictures...

I was in the same camp. Then I tried one. It's a really great piece of kit, as long as you view it as a bracelet-only watch.

How about rubber-strap only, too?

I don't know about that one. I only have the bracelet.

Double dittos !!

First was thinking the brown was the best with an almost root beer feel to
it, but then looked closer at the green, and thought that was great too !

It always a tough decision. :)

They’re ok, I guess. But green? Come on...it’s a freaking green sub. Even with the sunburst dial.

Ok, but in fairness, they have done many colors of the Aquis through the years. So because Rolex did one, one should ever do a green dial/green bezel?
I swear, sometimes I think you guys just want like 3 watch brands and nothing else.

Might as well call green as “taken” by Rolex ?

Didn’t Seiko release the green Alpinist long before Rolex released the green Sub?

I just looked it up. The green Alpinist came out in 2006. The green dial Sub was 2010.

So the Submariner is a shitty ripoff of a Seiko, then?
Obviously I am being facetious, but the idea that Rolex somehow owns the color green is just stupid.

Actually the Green Sub came out in 2003.

I don't like Seikos at all either.

So why is there a whole thread dedicated to SAS "Rip-offs" and people rip others up-and-down for homage-y type stuff, but this is OK?

Obviously y'all know more than I do.

I've honestly lost interest in this whole hobby, mostly because of this type of stuff. Or at least lost interest in talking about it.

Sorry to intrude.

The Oris Aquis looks nothing like a Rolex. Is it a Diver? Sure. But it is a completely different case design, lugs, dial, markers, Hands etc.

I get you don’t like it. We all have different tastes. But because they did a green dial and bezel it’s a Rolex knockoff?
That’s like saying Adidas can’t do a blue shoe because Nike did one, or Chevy can’t do a red and black truck because Ford did it first.

The LV was black with a green bezel.
