If it ends, part of the blame lies squarely on the Swiss. And as the article states, a lot has changed over the years in addition to the skyrocketing cost.

I'm not terribly worried either way. If companies want to have their own press event to announce their showings, they soon find out that has its own share of problems, too.

So in summary you pay out the a$$ then get the privilege to not handle the watch and discuss anything w the brand ...sounds worth it...not

I always wondered what it would be like to attend but now have no desire. I’d be pretty upset, too, if on a public day I was treated like a leper after years of anticipation and planning. Sounds like they're their own worst enemy.

Seems as if brands (like JLC) are looking at other events like SIHH to launch first--get people's attention prior to Basel.

I see little impact to the brands-- they have their own product launches, brand parties, etc.. Maybe new models will be available sooner.

hard to believe Chopard is considered one of the 'Big Five' in Swiss watchmaking?

One of the things I was thinking of planning when I retire - hope it continues.
