Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback
I'm ready for a new piece and saw Andrew Boen post on Instagram his. It's beautiful.

Not sure whether I like this or the black version that came out last year. This aged steel case looks amazing in pics.
I can get what seems a good deal from "Arts AD" at $5k versus $7600 list. Seems a good value.

I love it. Have Drew make you that exact strap. It’s perfect.

yeah his strap is sick on that.....no clue how backlogged he is...
Re: Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback
I like it and actually prefer the SS version (not certain if that is the less expensive version or not).
I like the dial without a date window. Better to not have one than to mess up the design with some oddly placed or shaped date window.
My only nit to pick is it looks like the watch case maybe could have been designed as 41mm or 42mm instead of 43mm. 43mm is getting to the upper limit of my personal comfort zone on watch size.

I like the strap but I'm lukewarm on the watch. I still can't get past the subdial placement I'd personally go for the first version of the reissue with the black dial. The aged version is a bit gimmicky IMHO.
Re: Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback
yeah i do like this one as well
Re: Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback
I've put my name on the list in January right after SIHH but I have to see both Bronze and Aged Steel side by side. AD got the aged in but no bronze yet, so I'm still waiting to compare. What I don't like about the aged steel is that the "aged" brushing is a little forced, you can clearly see brush marks and I was hoping it'd be more like a faded PVD/old pistol type "aging". Anyway once I see the bronze one I'll decide.
Either one will be a fun watch to play with straps

Re: Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback
i think bronze looks fantastic too, just not sure i need another bronze watch.....PLus i wonder how once patina sets in it will effect that cool brushed/aged look of the bronze case.
Re: Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback
Mite be a stupid question the stainless one has automatic on the dial but the bronze one has fly back on the dial do they both have the fly back function ? Or is fly back there for looks on the bronze.
Re: Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback
i dont think last years black dial version is a flyback but the new aged versions are. could be wrong
Re: Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback
Go aged steel before our lunch next week
Re: Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback

O went to check it out this weekend and loved it. But it’s not for everybody, the dial texture and buying a watch that seems aged, preowned... last year’s regular SS is a beauty too.

I like the idea of a modern vintage looking watch.

Omg if I buy that one it might have Brice dna on it. Is that extra?

Went to eat lunch with my AD, stopped at the store and tried it on again. Not for me, too faded and washed out. It's all yours Eric. Staying on course as planned and waiting for the bronze one.
Re: Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback
Needs a darker strap IMO so it's not all the same tone.

I do feel like the bronze one pops more.

It's not like Pelagos monotone but with a pop. It's literally all give or take a shade the same shade of grey. Best I can describe it it looks like an oyster shell in person
Re: Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback
I’m with Andrew on this. And while I haven’t seen these in the metal, I prefer the black dial. I find faux-aged watches gimmicky, in general.logan2z wrote:I like the strap but I'm lukewarm on the watch. I bought the stainless one, the aged one just seemed like it was trying to hard to look "vintage," anyway I love it the most accurate watch I own

Re: Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback
I prefer the regular black one. I think it's attractive, but those subdials are... uh... challenging. I don't think anyone would prefer the current version to one with more conventional subdial placement.
Re: Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback
Why are the subdials challenging? Easy to read to me.JP Chestnut wrote:I prefer the regular black one. I think it's attractive, but those subdials are... uh... challenging. I don't think anyone would prefer the current version to one with more conventional subdial placement.

If the dial and bezel colors are more true to Brice's pics I would dig it. If it's more like arts pics where a bit more washed out, not sure if I would or not.
