I am curious. I had the watch on and didn’t see an issue with the subdials ?

The spacing is all wrong for the dial size, just like almost all modern EP based watches. Sometimes they can hide it decently. On this watch they oversized everything and empahsized it.
Push the subdials out 20% and it would be great. As it is, it’s a compromised design built on a too small movement.

I'm sure it's less of an issue in person. Even the Speedy Pro looks a bit cramped in macros.

I just feel like I don't need another black watch. Plus I like the idea that that new one is a flyback

If you're looking to spend in that range, how about a Heuer Bund? Better dial design, better value retention, lots of history and a flyback chronograph. Yeah, it's vintage but the movement is easy to service.ericf4 wrote:I just feel like I don't need another black watch. Plus I like the idea that that new one is a flyback

that's funny I bought my Zenith because I wanted a Heuer Bund type vibe but in a modern watch and it scratched that itch perfectly. It's also the most accurate watch I own

I will likely buy the aged steel version this week when I'm back from a biz trip. Drew's pics on Instagram sealed it for me. The key is putting a strap on it that doesn't blend w the watch as much as the OEM. Interesting that the OEM strap is a 22 tapering to 18 at the buckle. Drew mentioned it's vintage cut.
Re: Thinking hard about Zenith Pilot Cronometro Tipo CP-2 Flyback
Looking forward to seeing it tomorrow!

Thx Pat. Can't wait to get back home tomorrow to see it.

Borrowed Drew's pic since this is the strap I got from him. Also he had this flame treated buckle I'm gonna try on it along with the OEM one of course.

I understand what your saying but I think it works on this watch. Pushing them out would compromise the 2, 4, 8 and 10. The subdials are evenly spaced between those numerals and the center, which makes it work.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Tue Mar 20, 2018 6:08 amThe spacing is all wrong for the dial size, just like almost all modern EP based watches. Good point. It needs a marker of some sort at 3 and 9 though. There's too much negative space between the sub dial and the edge of the dial. A little square lume plot would have made it less visually pinched towards the center.dnslater wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 5:45 pmI understand what your saying but I think it works on this watch. Pushing the subdials out further from the center seemed to work fine on the original, without compromising any of the numerals:dnslater wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 5:45 pmI understand what your saying but I think it works on this watch. The font seems to be thinner on the original which may have left a bit more room for the subdials. It's possible that the subdials on the original are a bit smaller too, but I've never seen one in person.
The case of the original is the same size as the reissue - 43mm - but the original did not use the relatively small EP movement.
