New Kickstarter Auto Chronograph from William L 1985

Post by Dynamite_Kid19 » Thu Mar 01, 2018 8:20 am

Saw this on Monochrome and it just launched today. Uses a Seiko NE88 column wheel chronograph for around $600. I backed this for the 2 watch deal. Going with the blue and either panda or black, both with no dates on steel. I really wanted them to offer a reverse panda. Hopefully, if it gets funded and enough people ask they will add this as an amazing option.

Good call on the no dates - that date window is awful.

I usually like a date but with these having that unpunched dial just seems too perfect. November can't come soon enough! I'm still struggling to pick what will accompany the blue dial. Panda or black?! Black or panda?!

This reminds me of when Brady straps would shill on WUS.

What do people do with these watches after they buy them? I'm willing the bet that the vast majority either (1) don't keep them for 365 days, or (2) never bother to have them service. They seem like the watch equivalent of drinking soda.

No date is the way to go on these for sure. Who's William L?

Speaking of telemeter, have you all seen the Junghans Telemeter? Brice and I checked out other models last weekend but this one is hot in a vintage sort of way.

Sadly I tend to keep all my watches and wear them, who would have thought. I've only just recently decided 2 must go because they are too big.

And for other questions William L is the creator and I am not him as I'm not European, born in 1985 or have worked at any Swiss watch companies.

as mentioned elsewhere, junghans is killing it and has been doing so quietly for the last 5+ years.

Hodinkee just posted a favorable hands on impression of the William L chronograph. Hate waiting for these projects to arrive in the mail.

All that means is that William L paid for a good review. I can't believe people fall for that.

Not like they said it would make you forget Patek. Summed it up and seems pretty spot on, affordable, solid movement and solid build. If you were talking about the Monochrome sponsored post I could see it but I'd venture to say Hodinkee's opinion is pretty respected.

Hoedicky is pay for play. They don't touch that watch if there's not $$$ involved.

I still think you're william L.
