Blue dial, black ceramic case, $5650

It appears to have a black date wheel.

At least the date wheel matches the case. Nice of them not to cheap out and go with a blue one.

Why can’t IWC match the crown to the case?

Hopefully that’s just a rendering error. Looks good otherwise. Not Explorer 1 good but decent.

I doubt it. They usually use steel or titanium crowns on black watches.

It’s a ceramic case like Miramar, probably has a Ti crown like caseback. They don’t have black crowns

That’s re one I was telling you about when Ben texted me about it from Switzerland.
I love that model. The ceramic works well with the blue dial too

Because it's cheaper not to.

Yeah I remember, that's right.
Wish the crown was matching but I don't think IWC knows how to machine ceramic and for a baked-on-frame solution the crown would be really easy to crack and chip. Just a guess

DLC coated steel would be fine.

Good point. It's super different from this one. IWC creative director is basically just a guy with good short term memory.

Black is slimming. Oh, and it will wear even smaller too.

Wait, is sub-6000 bucks for ceramic cheap? That seems... low for IWC.

It's not full ceramic but a baked on carcass solution. Look up Christopher Ward ceramic pilots, same principle for under 1K

I agree and am glad that ceramic case did not equal several thousands more in price over the SS model. Not a bad way to dabble in a ceramic case from a major manufacturer.

I can't blame iwc for going with numerous versions of a proven seller. Tudor has been doing this for years with seemingly good success.

I still find it curious that Jason with Halios can match his date wheel to his dial, but major manufacturer's of higher end watches cannot.
