Spring Bar Pliers
Spring Bar Pliers
Bergeron or Horotec?
Re: Spring a Bar Pliers
I used the horofix for my Pelagos and BLNR. Worked great, and 100 bucks less.

the 7825 and the 3200 work the best for me:

Re: Spring a Bar Pliers
I have the horotech. They're fine. Ill be getting a 3200 for exclusive use on my Rolex.
Re: Spring a Bar Pliers
I have the Bergeron tool that looks just like Horotec in Nick's pic. Works great on Rolex and Tudor.

I typically use a sharp knife.
That has caused me to use a drill as well

I have the Horofix ones. They work fine. Much better than the standard spring bar tool. Still a pain in the ass IMO, but that says more about my technique than the tool.

How are these better than a regular spring bar tool? Because all I do is apply pressure to back of the lug while I release each spring bar. Just wondering.

I like the concept of locking pliers as opposed to my overly caffeinated hands after a few drinks.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2018 5:26 pmHow are these better than a regular spring bar tool? Because all I do is apply pressure to back of the lug while I release each spring bar. Just wondering.
Re: Spring a Bar Pliers
In my experience I am much less likely to scratch the back of the lugs using this than a regular spring bar tool. The ends are tiny enough to fit into the ridiculously tight tolerances of a Rolex bracelet and grab the spring bar perfectly, which my regular Bergeon tool does not.toxicavenger wrote:How are these better than a regular spring bar tool? I bought them thinking I'd use them all the time. I never do. Easier with single tool while applying pressure to the lug. Pops right out.

I have one of the Everest spring bar tools with the 1.4mm tip. It works perfectly for the Monta. Is your Bergeon the one with the smaller tip?Chocodove wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2018 5:32 pmIn my experience I am much less likely to scratch the back of the lugs using this than a regular spring bar tool. Re: Spring a Bar Pliers
It’s more getting the bracelet back on. Both ends have to be squeezed, which I find to be easier with a plier type device than a regular tool.toxicavenger wrote:I have one of the Everest spring bar tools with the 1.4mm tip. Taking it off isn't much easier, but getting it back on is MUCH easier... for me.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2018 5:26 pmHow are these better than a regular spring bar tool? Because all I do is apply pressure to back of the lug while I release each spring bar. Just wondering.

Wait. So how is this different than a spring bar tool? Does it do both ends at the same time?

Re: Spring a Bar Pliers
Sweet. I think I should look into getting one. The single tool is too fiddly sometimes. Thanks

Re: Spring a Bar Pliers
Horofix for me. Mainly because they're much cheaper than the Bergeron.
Re: Spring a Bar Pliers
I am not sure what watch you plan on using these for, but if ever a Rolex, from what I understand the Bergeon pliers need to have the tips filed down slightly to get to the correct size. The Horofix are already good to go. If you do a search at TRF you'll see what I mean.

Re: Spring a Bar Pliers
That why I bought the horofix. However, it's definitely not as nice, and one of my thin tips showed up defective.Chocodove wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2018 8:30 amI am not sure what watch you plan on using these for, but if ever a Rolex, from what I understand the Bergeon pliers need to have the tips filed down slightly to get to the correct size.
