Wempe NYC appointments

Post by rockmastermike » Fri Feb 09, 2018 5:19 pm

I was surfing Wempe's website just now and see the button to Make an Appointment - do I, "Tommy Tourist", need to make an appointment to visit or can I walk in and the appointments are for ballers?

Unless they changed something (which I doubt), just walk in. I assume appointments are for the ballers looking for the white glove treatment.

Are you going to be in the area?

As of about 7 years ago, you could just walk in.

You should be good if you walk in.

They’ll gladly take your money if you walk in.

Walk on in. I thought they were incredibly nice when I was there a few years ago. Let me try on a bunch of watches, and the manager shot the breeze with us for a few as well.

When I was much younger I walked into a high end audio shop in Manhattan to buy a very expensive receiver. I had cash in hand but was turned away because they only sold by appointment.
To this day, I’m still baffled by it.

They are great, I walked in many times and they were always welcoming.
I am the kind of person who immediately says “I’m only looking around” so I don’t waste their time, but still they treated me very well regardless.

One time, I walked in to have a bracelet sized (screw pins) for my GS, expecting to pay a fee.
Not only they were super helpful and kind, they did not want any money for the service.
After I tipped the guy $20 for the help he gave me the correct size screwdriver (only one unfortunately, so I cannot pull off the “two screwdriver” thing) for free.
It was a Bergeon, and I still have it.
