Can’t forget Olivier
That's the bronze guy, right?
Yup. He took a bunch of preorders and only delivered a portion of them.

Funny part is Oliver did what Yao has been doing for years, he just got grilled within months of being behind and had to fold. Yao is at almost 8 years of doing the same thing, and he is loved still.
BUT, you can still pre-order them! http://olivierwatches.com/product-category/watches/

"There is nothing that comes close to a Kobold."

No shit! High prices, micro cases/bracelets, terrible CS, firetrucks, and sherpas. Very few brands are capable of offering the "Kobold Experience".

I didn't realize the case design of the Soarway is so complex. It's a miracle that the Monta watches every even came into existence with the inner chamfers.

This article reads well, but I think in 6 months his BS will be rampant still. He still hasn't addressed the allegations.

The visual of MK sitting in front of a CNC machine trynna get to the bottom of the queue is about as hilarious/plausible as him shooting out tires at 140mph.

He’s the face of the company, the designer, but clearly not the guy building the watches.

The article reads well? I think it’s pathetic.
It basically says I’m incompetent, my workers were incompetent and we took everyone’s money and gave them no watches as I didn’t want to be bothered with it as been in Nepal trying to shack up with the ladies by giving them free scarves.

^^^^ this.

“I blame everyone for fucking up but we did our best, and not to mention, I (along with the company chauffeur/director of customer service) had to really sacrifice and step in and machine some cases. It was rough. Amish country has no electricity, which we found out after we moved. Everyone will now get their watches (which are the best watches in the world btw, just ask the owners) and if I’ve had your watch in for service for more than a decade or otherwise really fucked you over, you’ll get a free all-inclusive tour of Nepal tea houses. Eventually. Maybe. We’ll see. Along with some TBD luxury goods made by Nepalese craftspeople. Oh and I’ll send you more tbd shit later this year. Eventually.”

I think it reads fine for the fan boi. He acknowledged the issues and outlined a plan going forward. I doubt any of it is true, but it reads well imo.
Yao's letters are worse by a long shot and he still has plenty of enthusiastic followers.

It sounds like he took his old explanation and reworded it again.

I’m trying to figure out why he tried to employ Amish people and indigenous mountain people- both groups of people don’t know shit about watches. Please tell me how you think these employees will make your company better.

Well.....

Rather than pick it apart, I’ll just say he could have left out the references to his other “luxury goods” and left off the “embrace adventure” tag line. Those don’t add to the appearance of sincerity.

Michael called me from Nepal the other day, but won’t waste time with specifics. Suffice to say he pretty much said the same stuff to me on the call and I reminded him it’s still ultimately his fault. He took responsibility and outlined his plans, but I told him (several times) that it’s very likely he won’t recover from this one.

Promises of paid trips Nepal, Amish country? We’ll see maybe he will, who’s to say he won’t, it’s not like he’s made promises of free stuff to people we know and not delivered..........

This is true. He did mention some of that and I know I’m still waiting for my swag that was promised years ago as a “goodwill gesture” because of all the problems I experienced.

It’ll never happen, I’m sure.

People are stupid. Forum watch people seem to be more stupid than average. There's a nontrivial chance that people get over it. I think his watches suck just as much as he does. Clearly "I don't get Kobold".

Yep, and still says delivery scheduled for 2012!
I didn't notice that, but the fact is, he must still be paying for that site to be up each month and he has Isofrane buckles for sale also.
Must get a few that would still stumble across and put something down without looking close enough.

If you actually add something to cart and then hit go to checkout, you get a 404 not found page. I did it with a few products, all the same thing. So he is not scamming others, at least not with this site.

When I read this I see very little personal responsibility in this. He talks as if he is some distant founder with no connection to management of US operations.
