Why does this watch need a date window?

Some really terrific points there guys !!
Guess the date window, and thickness can take away from a watch like this.
Might be the movement in both cases I guess. ..Thought they overall had a
really nice look honestly. ..That champagne dial version especially !!!

It looks great - like a cheap iwc mini Portuguese. Just drop the date and thickness.

It's a great comparison there Jacob !JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2018 9:31 amIt looks great - like a cheap iwc mini Portuguese. Just drop the date and thickness.
Went over to the Orient USA website just a second ago, and it looks like all
of the Bambino models do have a date, and are about the same thickness
as these above evidently.
Re: New Orient Bambino Small Seconds
Orient loves complications, thus you have a date window. It is in their DNA. Seriously, google search "Orient Dress Watch" and I defy you to find a single example that has no date or other complication.
They work a date into nearly every watch they make. If not a date, than skeleton, or power reserve, or timezone, or day, or all of these......

That’s interesting. I had no idea.

I think the first version without the numerals was better. Having the date and the "3" together is awkward.
