I look at it like this – the second I take it out of the box and take any of the plastic off, it's basically worth the same as it might be with a few hairlines (give or take), so if I'm committing to not returning it to the seller outright, I can afford to put some of my own marks on it.
Anyway, tools not jewels.

Not a watch on the scale of what you were referring to, but when I bought my used MM300 I actually liked it even better that it wasn't pristine. Immediately I was able to enjoy it without worry.
