Post by gwells » Wed Jan 17, 2018 10:37 am

that my instagram feed will be flooded with fugly watches (some so fugly i need to look several times to realize they're watches) and an occasional gem for a week, maybe two.

It reminds me that many watches are truly luxury items and I can't afford a lot of luxury. :banghead:

if what rolls through my instagram feed is the definition of luxury, i'm fine being a step below that. like i said, a handful of interesting and nice things and a gigantic wad of "wtf is that?"

I said it to Art last year, but it just makes me appreciate my collection more every year.

Very true. We'll see what Basel brings but so far I can predict that this year is going to be pretty boring for me besides Polaris unless I get a grape color AP

Yep - I feel the same way. Nothing has been released in recent years that made me want to flip something to get it.

Last year all I picked up was some frugals - Samurai, SeaWolf, and Squadron (Helson). I still have a BLNR and Jubilee bracelet on order (more than a year now) but I'm told early spring delivery.

I was just watching a vid of the new garish AP Royal Oak Divers... honestly the fakers will be rubbing their hands together as the blue one already looked like a really bad fake. If I’d not know who was doing the vid and where they were I’d honestly have thought they were knock-off’s!

Is it taking so long because of the bracelet addition or is that the standard BLNR waitlist at your AD? Crazy that they are still so in demand.

Mainly my AD. He’s been starved of SS models while Rolex was pressuring him to do boutique like upgrades to his store. He tried explaining that he’s in a historic district and some of the things they were asking just could’nt be done. That’s resolved and he’s been promised they will fill his backorders by the end of April. I’ve stuck it out because he’s offered me a great deal.

Also crazy is the control they have over their AD's. It's going to be worth the wait for sure, though.
