The Dive Watch Connection

So another buddy of mine on here and I have been kinda working our way through a HAQ (High Accuracy Quartz) phase. Started with the Breitlings, dabbing a bit into vintage tuning forks, and now moving onto some more modern pieces. I was originally looking for a Grand Seiko 9F (would still like one) but my buddy showed me the new Longines VHP's that were announced in Basel 2017. Where Breitling and Grand Seiko boast +/- 10s a year the Longines VHP's are keeping +/- 5s annually kinda like the Citizen Chronomaster. In addition, they are coming with a factory calibrated perpetual calendar. The VHP movement can detect magnetic fields, or shock and realign the hands after it passes. We stuck a magnet to my buddy's VHP and watched the hands stop, then snap into correct time once the magnet was removed Check this out.

Anyway, just wanted to share with errybody here... These seem like home runs for a well priced ($780 on Joma) Swiss HAQ watch imho.

I, obviously, am super into it. Been wearing mine since it arrived a few days ago.

It's crazy how well this watch was set from the factory. They have it dead on, all I had to do was remove it from sleep mode, then set the hours to my time zone (which is easy due to the quick set hours that doesn't affect minutes or seconds).

Looks good. My closest AD doesn't have these in but they look interesting enough to check out next time I'm near the Longines boutique

Can you say more about the tuning fork pieces? I ask as an owner of an extemely early (1960) accutron 214.

41 all dial seems too big. Cool tech tho.
