I also wish they were screw down. I know Stowa did some models that were 200m with a push crown, so I’m sure it can work, but still wish it was screw.
My Fortis b-42 was 200m with non screw down. Never gave me an issue ( I never took it to that depth either). It was actually nice to have a non screw down crown. Threads can be iffy sometimes.
I’m guessing they acquire the depth rating by securing the crown with extra o rings to help seal it, or thicker ones!

Who thinks that each of those watches it wet tested to 200m before shipping? Not this guy!

The pilots are still expensive for what they are. This was JLC's down market explorer killer. Lots of corners to cut to get it that cheap while keeping margins high.

Flooded with papers (desk diver).... I predict only 3 of those watches will be taken for a real dive.

You're referring to 100M model that's cheap (for JLC) and is just a sport watch. Date and Alarm are 200M WR, come with a divers rubber strap and advertised as divers.
I get it, no one will dive with these just like I'll never be 4KM under water with DSSD on, but still I feel that this was a horrible decision on JLC part

And I'm sure JLC knows it. I doubt the WR will hurt sales of this watch one bit.

True. Oh well, 100M model with no date in blue is a nice "dress watch" alternative for me.

I agree JLC should have added a screw down crown, but it's not something that would deter me from buying the watch.

They will flood, Richemont will charge insane amounts to repair, customers will get hosed. Circle of life.

Overall, I think the Explorer is a better watch...A lot of love for the Polaris and rightly so, but it would have been cooler to come out with a new Compressor.

This is going to be hard to choose, man I want them all, lol
I was able to try on and handle the LE today at the JLC boutique in Miami. Nice watch, wears well on my 7 1/4" wrist too. No screw-down crown is confirmed. But it's just not the TT Polaris. The store was very crowded and they seemed a bit hinky on taking pics, so I didn't. It does look much better in person than all the pics I've seen.

200M "rated" diver with a divers helmet engraved on the case back on a rubber strap and with push/pull crowns is a joke to me. I've moved on. Seems like Richemont is out to ruin JLC like they did Panerai. Rolex Explorer killer, my ass

Yeah, I don't love the non-screw down crown and pseudo compressor diving helmet on a non-compressor case. I love it when a watch I want so much has huge issues that turn me off. Because I have no watch money, and don't need the temptation.

The TTP 1968 was also rated at 200m, but I believe the crown at 4 o'clock screwed down. I'm not sure about the other crowns, however.
If the watch is truly water resistant to 200m with the current crown setup then I wouldn't have an issue with it. Honestly, I wouldn't care if it was WR to 5000m, I don't see any reason to take a $13K watch swimming or diving. Regardless, I don't like the look of the watch (at least in photos) so I'm probably not a customer anyway.

Also, while they were very nice at the boutique, the pressure to buy was apparent.

I do take all of my dive watches to water. Also to me personally unless it's purely a dress watch a screw down crown is a finishing touch to any sports watch showing the manufacturer cares and attention to details. If Longines Legend Diver can have screw down crowns there's no excuse for JLC omitting that feature.

Not that they didn’t like it, just didn’t get the feeling I should. The saleswoman was very knowledgeable and the boutique was very nice, offered snacks and drinks, even though they were busy with a watchmaking class and lots of folks looking/handling watches. I’ll be back for sure, hopefully when they are less busy. JLC is one of my favorite brands, and this boutique is way closer than NYC for me.
