SIHH 2018
Re: SIHH 2018
For some reason, I've been really intrigued by certain (very few) RMs lately. But I thought this one was pretty awesome: RM53-01
Cable system in the movement allows it to withstand up to 5000 Gs.
Cost..... $900k

Oooh I really like that.AtomicTom wrote:Wanted to add this one into the mix guys. Not sure if you touched on it yet.
It's the 1858 Pocket Watch from Montblanc. Which helps to pay tribute to the
160th anniversary of Minerva Watches, and has an adventurous mountain
climbing theme. With specifications like a 60mm titanium case, and something
called a lanyard system that allows the pocket watch to become a wrist watch.
You also have 30m WR, a blue bumortierite stone dial with beige Super-Luminova
markers, and numbers, and highly visible red, and white hands, and special
leather straps. With Montblanc's manual winding 22 jewel MB M16.24 right
there behind things.
Some pictures everyone...

Hmm. Apparently Tapatalk isn’t putting my comments in. I had copied AtomicToms post and commented on how much I liked the pocket watch.
Shocker, problem with Tapatalk.

I am with you. It’ll take time but I’ll get one. Wish I could have owned the 08dukerules wrote:I really think I might try to make one of the Polaris dates happen in a year or two. I almost pulled the trigger on the 2008 Tribute a few years ago, and I probably should have. One of my favorite watches of all time. This one isn't quite as cool, but it still pushes a lot of buttons for me. And I'm not a faux-tina lover generally, but the vanilla lume works better for me than the no-date's bright white lume.

Top is polished SS and sides brushed. S/ b brushed on top. Not a fan of the polished top. I’d rather have the sides polished instead.Panerai7 wrote:This is pretty hot and a great alternative to a white/silver dial M18 3-hander
I just hope it's not really a polished case like it shows in all of the promo shots
They should have made this one in Ti

It pays tribute to classic pocket watches, but then has this tasteful modern vibe as well.
Just seeing a bezel on a pocket watch is neat, but then the whole style of the case, along
with look of the dial is interesting to see. ..Wow, and so is that movement !
Makes you want to get into pocket watches again honestly.

Did everyone check out the MoonMachine 2 by chance?
This year MB&F evidently worked together with Stepan Sarpaneva to
create the MoonMachine 2. Which has the world's first projected moon
phase display also.
Just some of the details include 49 mm x 51.5 mm x 19.5 mm cases done
in natural titanium, black titanium, and red gold, and titanium, 30 meter
WR, sapphire crystals on all sides, bi-directional jumping hours, trailing
minutes, and also moonphase displayed using an optical prism, 30 jewel
three dimensional automatic movement from MB&F, and Girard-Perregaux
with Stepan Sarpaneva moonphase complication, and black alligator straps
with light blue, dark blue, or gray stitching.
Some pictures for you...
Timezone, and Monochrome with more info guys...

Hey everyone, just checked out this cool video on SIHH 2018 at Monochrome
Watches. Thought it was neat, and made it almost feel like you were there.
Maybe some of the same watches you liked are covered. Or maybe you will
even see a few others that you didn't get to see, or maybe missed.
Hope everyone enjoys...

Re: SIHH 2018
I'm thoroughly disappointed that Polaris models are all non screw down even the "diver" with 200M rating and "dive" rubber strap. Someone please tell me how it's possible...
Re: SIHH 2018
I also wish they were screw down. I know Stowa did some models that were 200m with a push crown, so I’m sure it can work, but still wish it was screw.Panerai7 wrote:I'm thoroughly disappointed that Polaris models are all non screw down even the "diver" with 200M rating and "dive" rubber strap.
