The Dive Watch Connection

It always drives me a bit crazy when the clasps on my bracelets get desk rash from wearing them in everyday life. Many people see it as just part of watch ownership. I do not.....I like to keep them looking good.

Here is where is gets WUS-ish. I once read something about how people use clear fingernail polish on the clasps of their watches and somehow it seemingly keeps the clasps from getting all scratched up. I never tried this but curious if anyone here has? And, does it actually work? I was thinking about trying on my new DateJust41 to preserve especially the clasp center that is high polished. I wonder if in anyway it could screw up the finish etc. I assume you could remove it with nail polish remover whenever you wanted.

Anyone have any insight?

I fully expect the first replies to be Ed, Ben, JP and others with some response that Im a crossdresser, but after those maybe any real replies?

You could probably use thinner phone screen protector material and cut to fit, but clasp scuffs don’t bother me.

Thats a great idea but the center of the clasp is raised so not sure it would stick well without looking stupid. That where i wonder if the clear polish would do the trick as some suggest.

I'm about as anal as anyone when it comes to the condition of my watches but I accept clasp rash as part of watch ownership. It's something that's easy to correct at some point in the future if it gets bad enough to bother you. Putting chemicals on the clasp may result in a cure that's worse than the disease.

Easy solution.....mink cuffs!

THIS is what i would worry about as well......

Use helicopter tape, be more careful, or learn to deal with it.

Watches get scratched. Only way to prevent it is not to wear them.

It is what it is. Watches scratch, jewelry scratches, cars get scratched, etc.

Don’t worry about them. No one will notice or say anything because their watches get scratched as well.

I used the screen protector trick on the clasp of my PO for a while, but then said fuck it.

Try clear tape?

I mean, unless you want to sell a watch as NOS... clasp scratches are pretty common.

yeah agreed, and its not that big of a deal as i could always brush the outer part and cape cod the polished part. Was just looking for a hack to avoid that.

Avoid resting your watch clasp on the desk!

I like to keep things looking good as well.

The fact that I learned long ago is that it is frivolous. You can learn to let go and not let it bother you, or obsess about something you can not really control unless you just don’t wear them.
Nail polish rubs off pretty easily, and when it does it looks like plastic peeling off.
Zagg or other shields come off relatively easy on the clasp as well, because you are constantly rubbing it against a desk, computer, etc etc.

Man there was a guy on WUS who always took photos for the WRUW threads (dive watch forum most likely) while on his office, with the watch resting on a small towel. I remember because he whore HIDEOUS long sleeve shirts.

LOL good question, That said a proper drummer and properly tuned and played drums actually doesnt go through heads at a rapid pace. Best thing is you throw them away and get a new one.....not so much with a rolex clasp....

Don how do you keep your pink toenail polish from coming off then? Any secrets?

I need THIS for my wrist in a smaller size.
