Trying to understand it really, what is the point of owning a fake watch? The person who wears it knows it's a fake so that kinda defeats the purpose, no?
I believe they want to convey to others they are successful and can buy an expensive watch. Silly.

I buy my watches for me.

In regards to Graham post... I never understand getting an expensive watch to be used on "special occasions". I want to use my good watches everyday, everywhere. I wear them and remember past adventures. I also want that, when in the future I give my PO to my son, that he will remember that I wore that watch when camping with him, etc. That's a heirloom.
I guess that's me, I buy them for me that's why most of my watches are no name to an average person. If I were to buy to impress I'd have nothing but Rolex models with as many cyclops and PCL's as possible :)
Exactly!

What I don't understand are the Seiko SKX007 reps out there.
Or G-Shocks, what is that about, you saved 33 dollars???

I would never wear a fake or replica. Trying to convey something you, or it, are not really irks me with people. It's like cheating to win. What's the point? Surely no self satisfaction, and that's all that matters to me.

I'm glad he's gone. Someone on WUS should post that he's been banned for fakes on another forum.

Grahamcombat wrote:I worked for a few months with a guy once and we both had DSSD’s. I didn’t know his was fake and he didn’t know mine was real, until one day, in the middle of doing something a little froggy that could beat up some of our gear he said, “man, it’s a good thing this is a fake Rolex or I’d be worried” and I said, “wait a minute, your watch is FAKE?”

And he got a little surprised and said, “wait, your watch is REAL? Why are you wearing a real Rolex right now?”

Kind of like now with the BPFF twins, guys seemed pretty surprised when they see it in use in the real world.

I was throwing the stones outside today (not fucking my wife, literally just throwing stones) and one of the guys commented on it.

“Why don’t you take your watch off?”, he said.

“Then how would I know what time it is?”, I asked, throwing. So he said I could put on a different watch or take it off and put it back on later.

So I asked him, “if this is life right now, if all of this is actually going on and we’re living life RIGHT NOW, when the fuck am I going to have time to stop and take off a watch or stop and put on a watch to continue doing what I am doing?”

Why wear it? Or why drive a truck if it can’t go in the dirt? Or why have a gun if you’re not going to shoot it? Or why manicure the yard if not to run in it?

Sometimes I think I’m different.

Even with two of the same watches, since getting the second, I’ve never worn the first. Over the past week or so I’ve just never stopped to switch a watch. Maybe I threw it on at New Years, I don’t recall.

i hear ya, graham. now, none of my collection is quite as valuable as the DSSD or BPFF, but it ain't cheap to me. and i wear them for what i'm doing. there are exceptions, but that's because they're family heirlooms (my grandfather's vintage gold omega) or pure dress watches. but wtf would i be doing wearing them if i wasn't getting all dressed up? so the rest of them? they were built to be used. so fucking use them. i buy tool watches for a reason.

You were right...the post is gone now. Well, I tried.

Really don't care for WUS that much anyway...a lot has changed with it since I joined.

Like many things...
