Incoming - something different
Commissioned this almost 2years ago, prior to moving into my new place.
Saw Hank's work on another forum and actually approached him to do a portrait for the wifey n me. He doesn't do ppl.
Hank is self taught, he does ad prints for some Canadian government thing. Absolutely fantastic to work with. The wait was worth it.
Went with a theme (keepers obviously).
A classic chronograph, a modern diver and a high end quartz. All with interesting histories.
The BP was the least complicated, sending Hank multiple pics made it easy to get all the details on first go.
The OQ went thru a few iterations, I couldn't open it for more pics, so Hank had to make do with online stuff to get the finishing right on top of the pics I sent em. Changed the angle too coupla times before this final reveal.
The Daytona needed a redo to get that black right so the markers stand out more. He also toned down the bling a bit so the focus was on the face.
Now to hang it up, dad keeps asking why are there all these display lamps on the ceiling

Very cool Mike.
Just wondering.. if these are drawings, then why are they printed onto box canvas frames.. don't you get the original drawings/artworks framed? (or have I got the wrong end of the stick?).

They are stretch-fitted over the frames.Heuerville wrote:Very cool Mike.

Was contemplating getting it shipped rolled to save on costs but Hank already had them done up.
Will probably get a 3d frame eventually...

Ahh.. I see, they're paintings!
You wouldn't stretch fit them after painting, as they would distort and crack. They would have been painted after stretch fitting the canvas (if done the conventional way). Sorry to pry.. I was once a fine-artist in a past life, brings back memories!

he did say to ship rolled meant it would need re-stretching and that wouldn't look too good

Very cool. My wife is an artist and has a degree in fine art and recently opened her own studio. I had her do some watercolour paintings of a couple of my watches. I'll make a separate thread showcasing her work.
