Get the 40mm and ship it to me after Brice. The fit & finish on the bracelet looks to be about Steinhart quality to me.
Also, get off my lawn.
If you get one, I’ll pre-order it used from you. 43mm Blue please.
It’ll wear too large for an all-dial Explorer type watch. I’ll get 40mm
Sorry

I really like this and 43mm is a big plus for me. I didn’t see an expected ship date. Is it listed somewhere?

If I get one, I'm with Brice on the blue in 40mm.
Either yellow or white lume.

Do they have any without the retarded stick-figure numbers?

If this brand wasn’t such a hot mess, I’d bite. Have a few winners amidst all the madness.

Hot mess from design perspective or organizationally? They are a long established brand. Only a few designs I like though. They should ditch the tubes on some models to allow flexibility on dial design.dinexus wrote:If this brand wasn’t such a hot mess, I’d bite. Have a few winners amidst all the madness.

While I don’t like some of their designs, the tubes are kind of their thing and I like when quirky brands stay quirky. People complain about Rolex derivatives and then when brand like Ball introduce new watches people complain that they should be more like a sub or explorer.ericf4 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2017 5:44 amHot mess from design perspective or organizationally? I had a Skindiver a few years ago and quality was fantastic and it kept superb time. Definitely far and above watches in the sub $1k market.

Nick, I remember the outrage when the Marvelight came out... Rolex copy etc. I think sometimes what makes certain brands unique will keep some folks away while attracting a smaller number.
That's why so many companies make their living selling warmed up or outright copied designs. Like Steinhart. I bet if they'd made more money with their original designs they'd have more of them. But instead they do a lot of copying and sticking their name on it. Nothing new. Hell, I see 'Rolex copy' all over some of the older Heuers that so many people really like and I see very little difference between what they did and what so many do today
Not going to be a very popular opinion most likely

I like this new Legend but after seeing the Marvelight I’d likely go with it over the Legend. Either way I’m a bit of a fan of the brand these days and this one likely won’t be my last.

I don't disagree with you. Steinhart is in business to make money and Rolex "homages" sell. No different than companies such as Squale coming out with their 20 ATMOS line of Sub-a-likes. Those models probably drive enough revenue to keep the lights on at Squale. It is probably the same reason Heuer copied the Rolex Sub design all those years ago. It is a design many people find appealing, so if you want to make money, you produce a known winner.jeckyll wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2017 4:06 pmNick, I remember the outrage when the Marvelight came out... Quite honestly, I put Squale, Steinhart, and nearly all the $1,000-ish "Swiss Made" watches in the same category. They all leverage the rules of "Swiss Made" to assemble foreign manufactured components into a "Swiss Made" watch. This doesn't make them bad watches, but I can't see Ball claiming their watch is "more Swiss Made" than Steinhart.
From a design perspective, Ball is certainly unique and quirky, which is OK until you end up like Fortis. As much as the "artist" in me hates it, the reality is "unique and quirky" needs to be balanced with revenue.
I like this Ball Engineer III Legend's blue dial and handset. I think the 40mm case is perfect for this style watch. I just think the stick figure numbers look childish and out of place next to those ornate hands and for that reason, I am out.
Re: Ball Engineer III Legend Pre-Order
I think the tubes work better with stick indices rather than numerals
Except for the Moonglow

Re: Ball Engineer III Legend Pre-Order
Just organizationally. They had a million skus back when I paid attention to them, but now their release cadence seems to have actually accelerated with this new online pre-order system. Nothing seems to have any permanence in their collection, which drives me nuts. Plus, with the pre-order pricing dramatically devaluing anything they've done in the past (which is fine, buying used with Ball was always a better value), it definitely smacks of a management team throwing whatever they've got at the wall and praying something will stick, while royally screwing over their AD network in the process. Not exactly a brand whose values or distribution means I respect enough to continue supporting. Shame, the EMII Diver Worldtime was (and still is) one of the most interesting watches they've ever made.ericf4 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2017 5:44 amHot mess from design perspective or organizationally?
