Ball Engineer III Legend Pre-Order

Post by mattcantwin » Sat Dec 09, 2017 5:34 am

Pre-order pricing on the Ball Engineer III Legend in place until the end of December.

Large numerals most likely not to everyone's liking.

4 different tube colors is a cool option.

Apart from the cyclops, I like that, and a great deal.

Yep, wish it didn’t have the cyclops.

Interesting to see the bigger companies using preorder like this.

Seconded (although I know I won't)

Thankfully they're not using the round cyclops, those look terrible.

I wonder what resale will look like?

I dig it. Cyclops really doesn’t bother me.

No cyclops on the 43mm version; day/date instead of just date.

Laser engraving is limited to one line and up to 11 characters, including spaces.

mattcantwin has 11 letters.

I’ve said it before, but all Ball watches look the same to me. Still, when these are selling for $650 used it might be OK. The fit & finish on the bracelet looks to be about Steinhart quality to me.

Also, get off my lawn.
Current
Alpina Extreme Diver 300 | Benarus Ti47 | Breitling Avenger Seawolf | Eterna KonTiki Super 1973 | Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic | Hamilton Pan Europ | IWC Aquatimer 2000 | Korsbek Oceaneer | Linde Werdelin The One 2.6 | Omega Seamaster 300 Spectre | Omega Seamaster 300 Titanium | Omega Seamaster 2531.80 | Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow | Panerai 005 | Rolex Deepsea | Steinhart Nav-B 6497 | Steinhart Ocean Vintage Military | Stowa Seatime | Zenith El Primero Stratos

Incoming

The tubes greatly limit dial design. Image

Actually the bracelets are pretty nicely done - at least on my older models

I wonder if it's just a function of the market overall struggling.

Anyways, at $850 these seem like a good deal. The 40mm model is way more anti-magnetic than the others. Wonder why ...
  • Anti-magnetic to 4,800A/m (31mm & 43mm model)
    Anti-magnetic to 80,000A/m (40mm model)

Ball Engineer III Legend Pre-Order

Post by Jeep99dad » Sat Dec 09, 2017 9:01 am

I saw these on FB as I follow them
And i must say I absolutely love it.... as I did some of the other recent models they’ve put out on preorders.

I like the Explorer styled Watches. While the black is classic I do prefer the blue kne. Silver is nice but here there isn’t enough contrats so it’s a tad bland for me and not as legible during the day.
I am also a fan of the ETA2892 so this is another plus for me
“The 40mm timepiece houses the BALL RR1101 movement, based on the renowned ETA 2892 caliber. Featuring high-quality components, superior engineering and exceptional finishing, the ETA 2892 movement is renowned for its efficiency, which is guarded by BALL’s ingenious mu-metal shield for anti-magnetic protection to 80,000 A/m.”
The angular numerals due to tubes are always the only drawback for me in their Watches but I may try this one

The price difference for the bracelet model is a no-brainer to me, and the Watch is perfect in bracelet. Works great in office settings. Easy enough to get aftermarket straps anyway Image

Having handled Balls before Image🤨, I’d say that it’s not true. They make an overall superior watch and bracelet.

While I haven’t handled any really high end watches, I did have an Omega SMP which had a very nice bracelet and my Ball Fireman has even better fit and finishing than the Omega.

I obviously haven’t had nearly enough balls in my hands.

It’ll wear too large for an all-dial Explorer type watch. I’ll get 40mm
