Selling fake branded watch straps is OK?

Post by straps68 » Tue Nov 28, 2017 2:42 am

So I have recently, on another forum, come across an ad from one of the expensive strap makers advertising straps from a brand that I know and like.

I know that those straps are made by that strap maker and in no way endorsed by the brand. They are not made from say, a bag that was cut up for straps - they are simply counterfeit merchandise.

I have seen others do this many times as well. And the funny thing is that the mods do not react! I mean we're talking people who would ban you for mentioning that you like a replica watch or even certain homages! What gives?

I’m curious to hear more about this.

I think he means those straps that are supposedly made from Louis Vuitton bags. Not sure why anyone would want one.

User name strapfreak is selling straps that look like they came from LV and BAPE. They are obviously custom printed because he offers that as a service.

Ok, but what if...the straps are made from an authentic LV bag, not a fake one....lol

I think that would be OK. I have made straps from an old branded belt. If you are reselling an original item, albeit in small pieces that is a different thing.

How about figuring out how to make rubber straps from old used rubbers? The "lube" would keep them from drying and cracking.

Aside from the fact that that LV strap looks like shit and would never buy one ever, what's the problem with these?
Assuming they are using genuine LV materials obviously
The way i see it, every time i see a LV bag for sale online i assume its a fake......the idea that the strap could be original i feel is a million to 1 shot.

You may not like them but I’m sure some do. Others strap makers seem make them too.
I personally don’t like them and never really was a fan of LV bags in general but to each his own. I am sure many may not like some of the Watches or straps you and i wear.

Right, i am with you, if they are from real bags they purchased, i don’t have a problem with it even though I’d personally not buy one as i don’t like how they look

Not my cuppa at all, but if they are genuine materials as he says I don't see a problem with it. Of course, who knows if it's actually real materials.

In this ad you can clearly see that the straps are custom printed - it is actually stated in the ad: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f319/new-b ... 82339.html

Terry has promised me a custom strap made from his old underpants.
