Don't worry, I'm not going to immediately list these for sale and then get yelled at for listing them for sale...

That’s why I got them now, before the forum dealers buy them all up and charge $15k for them.

is this a sign of a price increase or what's the story behind the "no more sport models until 2018"

I just came back from Las Vegas and the Rolex boutique in the mall by Ceasar's was out of SS sport (Sub / SD / DSSD) models. There was a lonely blue / white gold Sub sitting in the case and a two tone Sub - that's it.

No one seems to know. Speculation seems to be all over the place including Rolex purposely holding back shipments to "starve" grey market dealers/resellers, to moving entirely to the newer movements next year, to discontinuing SS models altogether in favor of precious metals, to anything in-between.

To me, the most sane and logical would be the movement one (draining remaining inventory to move to the 3235 or whatever). The grey thing is plausible but it would be at the expense of hurting their AD's and also pissing off customers even more (Sorry, we know you want to buy our watches but we want to punish greys and ADs so no, you can't buy our watches). Plus that just drives up secondary grey/flipper values even more (check out some of the "trusted" seller prices).

There's also this new supposed policy of Rolex forcing AD's to remove stickers before allowing you to take the watch. I actually experienced this last week, had a BLNR on hold at a local AD and they insisted on removing stickers. Actually, I was buying out of state (the AD in your neighborhood JP) and while in the past it's been as simple as buying in the store and having them ship to you they insisted I give them a copy of my driver's license, send them either a certified check or wire the money (couldn't pay in store), then they would remove all stickers and then ship to me. I told them I didn't want them to pull the stickers off and they basically said 'sorry, Rolex policy-no exceptions' so I bought it somewhere else.

I've also seen reports over on TRF of some ADs now only selling to existing/established customers. Again, what a way to just turn people off (what? Never bought from us before? Sorry, not for sale...).

But, what do I know??

Oh yeah, I was also offered to be put on a waiting list for a Hulk at another quasi-local AD...provided I paid them upfront, in full. Then when they got one (at some point in the we-have-no-idea-when future) I would be guaranteed to get it.

That's insane. Maybe I'll pop into the little AD in town. They always have a ton of stock.

I think you're right about the movement. They ran down stock on the sd4000 in the same way. No word besides "no more delivery". Kill supply at Christmas seems... stupid.

Interesting info, thanks
FWIW, my AD told me unless I spend a 100K with them in merchandise I won't see the new DaytonaC for years from them. That's just silly

If it's the one downtown, that's where I was. They had basically nothing in the case unless they were keeping it all in the back. I'd called first about the BLNR. When I told them I didn't want it anymore if they were going to remove the stickers they hung up on me.

Crazy. I was in there during the eclipse and they had a ton of nice watches. I wonder if the forum dealers are going to play up the old movement in their stock, when it gets replaced?

I just hope they don't discontinue the 114060. I really want another one but I'm not ready yet.

I hope they discontinue both of the Subs and replace them with a thinner version of the SD4000 case. Rolex seems to be moving increasingly away from square watches and the Subs need to come in line.

I can definitely get on board with that, but there would no doubt be a price increase and waiting lists out the wazoo.

Actually ,if that happens maybe the current Subs will tank and I can pick one up on the cheap
