New Nomos "At Work" collection is pretty awesome
If you guys haven't seen them yet, the new Nomos At Work collection just came out and they look pretty awesome, at least if you like how Nomoses look to begin with.
You can check out my take on them here or, if you'd prefer, Hodinkee's coverage here.
Personally, I really like these new brushed "Silvercut" dials.

I really like the Tangente with Silvercut dial.

I bet that would look good on the Ahoi series.

I thought these sucked when they were released, but got momentarily swayed by that really nice picture. Then I saw they're 39mm. If NOMOS wants to offer bigger sizes, they need to have more normal lug lengths.

I would really love them to work on new watches and movements instead of small aesthetic changes on existing watches. They're nice, but really not worthy of any big announcement.

I like them, but Nomos lugs just don't work for me regardless of what the rest of the watch looks like.

Re: New Nomos
For instance a HW movement that looks like it was designed to fit a case approximately 39mm in diameter?
NOMOS offers such incredible value. I'm not sure why they can't just produce one line of watches with normal proportions and nothing funky going on.

I prefer smaller watches than most here, but I found the Tangente Sport a little too small at 37mm. I sold it pretty quickly. I tried on the Tangente 38 once (which is the same size as these I believe, they're 38.5) and it felt perfect. The lugs didn't bother me at all.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2017 9:39 amI thought these sucked when they were released, but got momentarily swayed by that really nice picture. I think they do have some. Weltzeit, Minimatik, Tetra are all very proportional with unique-to-Nomos case designs. And then the Lambda and Lux.JP Chestnut wrote:For instance a HW movement that looks like it was designed to fit a case approximately 39mm in diameter?

Most of the others have lugs that I'm not perfectly a fan of.

This one might be OK, though it's covered in funky design elements.matt.wu wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2017 11:03 amI think they do have some. The size isn't even too bad. Fit it with an Orion style dial/hands and I might give it a try.
This one (Weltzeit) though, doesn't look particularly normal length when you account for the thicker shell strap.
For me, NOMOS is a brand that's almost there, but just a step or two in the wrong direction.

I feel the same, stunning in their simplicity but the lugs need to lose at least 1mm.

Some new photos:

Is the Silvercut just a print, or are they actually cut/brushed with texture? Hard to tell from the photos.

I think it's literally brushed metal, but from experience polishing metal, I don't think you'd probably feel it with your finger like a teak dial.
