2- I don't see that name anywhere on the watch or in the description.

Yep looks like shit.

But I still think Squale puts out a heck of a watch for the money (the actual Squale design cased watches).

Real world shot of the watch. Not as bad as the render made it to be. It's the 1521 case (42mm) and the squale logo on the side of the case is removed.

Squale is kind of like Steinhart in the way they will make LE's for almost anyone.

A few years ago they made an LE for some Polish watch forum that was pretty decent looking. This one, not so much.

Even if the color scheme appealed to me, I'd be ashamed to walk around with some YouTube guy's logo on the face of my watch.

Probably not too much given it is just a bezel insert and dial.

From what I remember about the Polish watch forum LE, they promoted it on WUS in order to sell a few more slots to get to the required minimum order which I think was only 30 units.

It still says "Lion" and "Shark" on the dial, and still mixes red with orange with white with some kinda weird sunburst. It's unsurprisingly pretentious and terrible.

I guess the dial came out a bit too blue to match with a red bezel.

I actually like the dial colour but it needs a dark grey bezel, that and the removal of the TGV logo!

You think Squale paid him to produce this LE?

With their production of that Sub knock-off I knew they were hurting for revenue, but I can't believe an association with Gentry would generate any revenue (but then again, I don't look at his YouTube videos and have no idea how many followers he has).

Maybe Gentry is pulling a page from the 'Dink playbook, releasing an LE that is already pre-sold?

That's nuts! The guy has only 147K subscribers (which in itself is nuts in that 147K people actually subscribed).

I guess I don't really understand this new generation of YouTube marketing. I could see some random micro brand paying this guy to shill their stuff (either in outright payment or in the form of a free watch to review and then sell at a later date).

The idea a major brand such as Seiko Epson would "hire" some YouTube guy is kind of nuts. I mean, what if this "Urban Gentry" guy turned out to be another Jared? The potential for brand damage seems too great to be worth the risk for organizations such as Seiko.

Well I don't have the type of job that allows me to watch those in my downtown, and there is no way I can squeeze YouTube watch videos in my downtime at home. That would require me to cut back on DWC and:or Xhamster.
