Looking to service your watch?
Hey gang, tired of keeping up with which watchmaker is taking new work and what the pricing is? Me too... that's why I came up with http://findawatchmaker.com. It's modelled after thumbtack and airbnb with a review system. I'm currently working on the full website so if anyone wants to beta test it let me know and I'll give you access.
My goal is to put watchmakers and watch enthusiasts in one place, where the service is clearly outlined with a clear timeline. Let me know what you guys think. Any and all feedback is welcome!
Cheers
Alex

Cool. Good luck with your venture! How do you control quality of the watchmakers?

As a user, you'll be able to filter through watchmakers certifications, see pic below.
But as we know, there will be people that shop based on price, not qualifications. In the end, the watchmakers' certification and rep will win.
Does that make sense?

Re: Looking to service your watch?
Yes, I'm looking at getting watchmakers from all over the world.
For local deals, there will be the option to drop off and pick up the watch from the watchmaker's location.
The workflow on the website will it very easy for communication and showing progress. The hope is watchmakers will adopt the platform to ease the amount of work on their end.

Great idea. A few of us have talked about doing this but nothing came of it. Some of the best watchmakers aren't certified though. I know some shitty ones that are unfortunately. A rating system would be cool.

Ya exactly! That's why I left the option of no certification and ya there is a review system.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2017 8:23 pmGreat idea. Excellent idea - always looking for a good watchmaker. I should buy a timex from Walmart and be done with this drama

Or stick to 7S26 and never bother getting the movement serviced.
Or send it to Terry!

After quite a bit of time, the website is ready for all of you to tear it to shreds. I was able to get 2 watchmakers to sign up
