New Alpina Startimer Pilot Quartz GMT

Post by AtomicTom » Tue Sep 26, 2017 2:50 pm

Not sure if you guys saw these new Alpinas already. Thought they were really nice.

The new Startimer Pilot Quartz GMT has a 42mm stainless steel, or black PVD case,
100 meter water resistance, convex sapphire crystal, options of an all black dial, black
dial with red, and gray ring, or black dial with yellow, and gray ring, luminous hand-
polished hours, and minutes hands, red arrow GMT, black, or light gray nylon straps
with contrast stitching. Then you have Alpina's 1 jewel caliber AL-247 behind things.

Here is a look...

They got the date window placement ideally on the GMT. Listen IWC.
It's a beautiful world! Gerald.

I like that. The last all-dial 42mm watch I had looked a bit too large, but this might work.

No running seconds seems a bit odd.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

Saw these yesterday. That GMT looks pretty cool and I'm curious to try one out.

I think that’s to avoid the tick-tock and crappy alignment of quartz seconds hands. Probably also let’s them make it a bit thinner.

I do wonder how the EOL indicator works though, if there is one.
