It'd be super duper fantastic if it didn't have that big eye, to me anyway

I'd rather have a regular eye that didn't eat the indexes.

No. Hence "another". This brand doesn't shout "long term keeper" to me.

I like it OLD SCHOOL better than some of the new stuff that look weirder than shit and it's a good size not large like a alarm clock. I all ways hear here why did they add a date window and then dam it was also put in the wrong place. Here they did it right no date window and still you guys don't like it

No. But to be fare, most Omega, Rolex, Tudor etc don't either. Watches aren't designed to be kept as heirlooms any longer...they're consumables.

I'd say most rolex are made for long term ownership, but you're right about the other two. Expensive fashion watches more often than not.

I don't know. The ceramic bezel watches are going to end up being very expensive to own/maintain and keep in decent shape. The price of bezel replacement is not cheap and will probably go higher with time, making it difficult to keep. I think the older models will retain better value in the next few decades and they'll be cheaper to maintain.

I definitely find the older ones more desirable, and I fully expect the fat cased subs to suffer greatly if rolex ever produces a properly proportioned replacement. The 40mm SDC is a future classic though.

Only because they discontinued it. If it was a constant production model, the values would continue to sink like the ND sub.

Discontinuation was bound to happen, as it will for the chunky sub. Over the years, long term Rolex values seem to be driven by people with tastes similar to mine, and the last SD is the only ceramic model that I've ever seriously thought of owning. This short term price increase is speculator driven, but that will be a watch with longterm pull. At least in my opinion. I'll definitely buy one when I have every good five digit model.

I think you're a little off with that comparison. The 114060 has landed between low-high $5k range, which is a drop from new, but time will bring it back up. Let's not forget that the five-digit references didn't really jump in value until they were discontinued. Before that a 14060 was easily found in the $3k range and a 16610 could be had for not much more.

I suspect the six-digit references won't remain unchanged for decades like the last generation did. When all is said and done Rolex price increases will help bring the current stuff back up a bit.

Is the register on the right for the chrono seconds?

If so, why did they subdivide each 5 seconds with 2 hashmarks? Maybe Longines thinks we need to measure things in units of 1.67 seconds??!?!?!??

Jeez, I feel stupid. Duh.

My brain fart notwithstanding, it's an amazing-looking offering from Longines. Very nice price (I assume it'll be mid-teens greymarket?) and size, too.
