What's your most accurate mechanical watch for time keeping

Post by River Rat » Fri Aug 11, 2017 8:21 am

Now what's you most accurate mechanical watch for time keeping no quartz watches now. Surprising it's my vintage Sinn 103 with 7760 movement. Been using this site to check the time keeping
https://time.gov/
I did demagnetize it due to it was shipped three times for repairs figured they x-ray every thing these days that mite magnetize it. And started checking the time for over a week still spot on. On most of my vintage and the few new ones I ever owned they were all ways 3-10 + or - per day never spot on except quartz. Maybe the only thing good I can say about RGM they do know how to regulate a watch. over 7 days and still spot on amazes me. Now what is your most accurate mechanical watch you ever owned. My Sinn is a keeper just for it's time keeping ability. Wonder because Helmut Sinn was at the helm of the company when my watch was made they made a better quality watch ?

My Daytona is shockingly accurate, though all my Rolex watches are impressive. I bought the Daytona as ten year old NOS, pulled the stickers off, wound it and put it on my wrist. It's been +1 sec/day or better depending on how frequently I wear it.

Rolex is my golden standard for long term durability and stable timekeeping.

The Sub I got from Jeff on June 2nd I believe gained one second...total...from then until I shipped it out this past Monday.

My other two 114060's were within one second a day.

This one is about +1 spd, or at least it was when I timed it the first few weeks after I got it. I check them when I get them and just before the warranty expires, but other than that I don't pay much attention.

Hold on, did I just login to TRF by mistake? Is it safe to wear your watch while timing it during a rainstorm in South Africa?

My Armida A7 ran within a second per day last time I checked.

Besides the soft Ti, I think that's the one to have based on looks. I think they had a tungsten one in the past that looked similar.

Not really soft just scuffs easily and brushes out just as easily with a fiberglass pen.

Thanks Andrea  was meant as a joke since it's missing a seconds hand and minute markers lol

My Rollie is so accurate that I use it to set my atomic clock.

That's good. My EZM1 scratched if you looked at it sideways.

There was a tantalum Marina in the past. I don't remember a tungsten one, but there have been so many in the past it wouldn't surprise me.

That Sub was really accurate. My current Seiko SBDX019 is +2/day so that's pretty good. The most accurate I've had was a Precista PRS18A with Miyota movement. It never gained or lost a second in the few months I had it. I'm sure that was an anomaly, but it was pretty amazing. I don't usually time my watches regularly, but I timed that one regularly just because I kept thinking my last reading had to be wrong.

Haven't timed it for a while, but my 116610 Sub has always been about +5 or 6 sec per week consistently.
Less than a second a day

Surprisingly, my 43yo Pogue is on point at the moment.

Although my wife's DJ36 is running about the same as the following after 6 years without service, the runner-up in my collection is my white MK.XVIII, which runs at about 4-5 seconds fast, but that's how I like them. I prefer a slightly fast watch over a slower one or one that's accurate to the second, knowing one accurate to the second might slip a little vs. one slightly fast for the same reasons.

I have a few that are pretty accurate. But the JLC DSC is almost always within a second or two, even after a week:

Over the last several months, the days I've worn my SBDC003 Blumo it's averaged between -0.3 to +0.3 s/d. Out of the 4 I've had with the 6R15, this is the only one that's been this accurate. The others were not even close.

I thought my Sumo was a freak!?! My SBDC031 runs at a steady +2s per day. I still check the thing about every other day thinking it's gonna slip up ,and become a crackhead like all the other 6R15 Seiko's out there that run +10s one day and -25 the next then run bang on for three days, and then -15s a day for a week or so. I really love this watch even if it wasn't as accurate as it is I would never flip it due to it being a gift from my wife.

My Omega 2254 was essentially perfect- sometimes would gain a second then it was back down to 0. Was serviced of course.

My Omega Aqua Terra.

It has run at +1 second a day since it was bought.

The only watch I've never sold-going on approx a decade without being serviced either.

Go figure

My Aquadive bs100 DLC. Been at 0sec / +1sec day since I've had it. Solid. Still have it.

Never serviced either.
