The speedmaster pro is a great watch. Easily the best omega makes.GregBe wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2017 1:12 pmI am looking at some of the same watches for the same reasoning. Another I am considering is the Speedmaster Pro. Superb on steel, nato, and leather equally. I know water resistance sucks, but for me...I can't remember the last time I had one of my watches submerged.

^ This-- and at around 4-5K ( MSRP 9K) a very good deal...jtbenson wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2017 11:12 ami'll be in the minority here as a lover of the sm300. I think it wears great on bracelet, nato and leather. Independently adjustable hour hand and no date are also huge bonuses for me. lugs are polarizing, but i am on the love side of it. not a one-watch, do-all watch for sure, but when i wear it, i love everything about it.

What makes you say 39mm Explorer is terrible. I think it's a nice all around watch with not apparent flaws or points for controversy?Seppia wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2017 1:30 pmIf I had the coin I'd have bought a 36mm Explorer I a long time ago.
I find the 39mm to be terrible, like most of modern Rolexes by the way (notable exception being the new OPs).
I second the Speedmaster as a nato watch, I enjoy my speedy reduced a ton, so a guy with normal wrists could rock the Speedy pro no problem.
I think the old seamster (the one with sword hands) also looks fantastic on nato, it's nice and thin.
if it were 41-42 it'd be on my wrist already so just curious.

Have to agree, the updated EXPI is a great, no-nonsense watch.

I agree if we are talking about the first generation 39mm. The white gold numerals don't work for me, neither do the too small hands. The 2016 release has fixed both issues. It's perfect.Seppia wrote:

Yes, the SMP 2254-2264 are fantastic.

This is exactly why I like DWC. I would've pulled the trigger on the 300 today, but the input in this thread has completely turned me off. I still think it's a cool watch, but for the everyday go-to, come home and sit on the couch kind of watch, the Exp1 ended up being the clear winner. It is smaller than I normal would wear and I'm not a small dude, but not by much and that's likely a good thing because the low profile of the Exp 1 makes it super easy to wear. AND, the Exp1 is one of those watches that don't look bad at all once it gets scratched up - almost gives it character.
My Exp1 with Lumed dial arrives tomorrow!

I've often thought of getting one of those 34mm air kings with the update case and bracelet. Cheap and probably a good size for suit wear. The fat cases just don't work for me.
Re: Thoughts on Omega 300 Seamaster + more
All day every day on the explorer.
I have the 36 and 39.
The 36 is near perfect for me. It doesn't wear small.
Can't go wrong with either of the explorers. It all depends on what you like.

They go anywhere from "way too much" to around $3,000. They had a lovely AK with a blue explorer 1 style dial.
Re: Thoughts on Omega 300 Seamaster + more
On paper, I also loved everything about the SM300 (no-date, IAHH, super versatile) but once I had one on wrist, I have to concur – those ultra-long lugs and all the polished surfaces made it feel far less subtle than I'd hoped. I don't mind the 21mm lug width, but the bracelet wore awkwardly, and like others have mentioned, wore tall on a NATO too. Bummer on many fronts.

My wife daily wore a blue 36mm 3-6-9 OP until it was replaced by the Topper Nomos Tangente. Rolex just collects dust now.JP Chestnut wrote:They go anywhere from "way too much" to around $3,000. They had a lovely AK with a blue explorer 1 style dial.
It's a great watch. And the 36mm OP doesn't have the AK branding.

I was thinking of this one:
http://raymondleejewelers.net/product/r ... eel-watch/
Possibly identical looking to the 36mm OP, besides the model name on the dial.
Does your wife want to flip hers?

A 20mm on a 21 is barely noticeable. And that look worked for Bond!hoppyjr wrote:I think it looks great on nato, but the 21mm lug width limits choices or forces a bunched strap. No thanks.JP Chestnut wrote:Here's another one that shows the endlinks in all their glory
Too long and shiny lugs looking weird on a nato.

Huh, I loved my SM300. I'm currently lusting for the newest version Explorer, so that'd be my choice today, but the SM300 IMO is a great watch and better value used. I think I sold mine for something like $3500.
