Stuck between these two Chronographs
Stuck between these two Chronographs
Sort of stuck between these 2 Chronographs.
I want both, but can't do both right now. Which one would you go with first?
Both in-house movements

3706 would look like a watch out of a cereal box on Art's wrist

Re: Stuck between these two Chronographs
You already have an IWC pilot chronograph so maybe the Zenith makes more sense.

Re: Stuck between these two Chronographs
Zenith by a mile, especially since you already have a kick ass IWC chrono. I love that Zenith. Dibs

I loved the top gun. Can't stop thinking about it. But didn't IWC have problems with this movement?

A little surprised Zenith is winning in the popular vote at the moment

Re: Stuck between these two Chronographs
The only thing that's bad about Zenith is the squinty look of the subdials. Otherwise, they make great watches. The IWC is pretty unremarkable and similar to something you already own.
Neither would be my choice, but the Zenith is clearly the better of these two.

Re: Stuck between these two Chronographs
The 89361 flyback chronograph has known freezing issues. It has affected several models that use the movement including the IWC Collector's Forum watch. Not sure if IWC has implemented a fix for this yet, though.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2017 9:08 amNot that I know of. The first generation BP movement was a mess though.

I'm not a WIS, but 30 min chronos are worthless, imo...

Re: Stuck between these two Chronographs
Zenith wins in my book on looks alone, but then again, it looks like a dive watch with the rotating external bezel which is my preferred style.
The fact it is only a 30 minute counter on the chronograph might be less than optimally useful, but for longer duration you'd likely simply use a combination of the bezel and the counters.
I also prefer applied indices on dressier watches, and the Zenith dial just looks more "rich" with those raised numbers.
Ultimately, I think the IWC is a more complex, feature-rich design, but looks like a field watch. The Zenith just has a better look as a dress(ier) sports watch.
