Thistle Alpha EDT Jane DSV Take 2
Thistle Alpha EDT Jane DSV Take 2
I work on an oil rig in the North Sea about 70 miles north of the Shetland Isles and Norway. At the moment we have a dive support vessel the EDT Jane doing a 41 day workscope consisting of inspection and cleaning of the subsea structure (the jacket) The jacket is a 195 metre structure with 170 metres of it subsea. It was built in the 70,s just up the road from were i live in the northeast of England. My father in law actually worked on it as he was a welder by trade and worked in the shipyards all his life. Took a few pictures today and thought i would share

That's some awesome pics. It must be a tough but exciting job. And great family connection with Rig being built. So what dive watches are used? Any action shots of those? Thanks for sharing

very cool thanks for the "behind the scenes" shots. Yours is a world very few of us are remotely familiar with and it's good to see/learn new things

Nice story and pictures. I'd say that beats a desk job.

Keep in mind that work on a platform can be 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off. The weeks off are great but the family often isn't fond of you being away for 4 weeks.59yukon01 wrote:Nice story and pictures. I'd say that beats a desk job.

I work a 3 and 3 rotation used to be 2 and 2 which wasn't so good in the Summer when it's foggy... You could be stuck on for 5 or 6 days and this would come off your time off...HapaHapa wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2017 11:57 amKeep in mind that work on a platform can be 4 weeks on and 4 weeks off.
