Sad news about Jay Taras (NATO Strap Co. etc.)

Post by hidden by leaves » Sun Jun 25, 2017 10:59 am

Just read that Jay has passed away at the age of 35. Sorry to hear of this, Jay was always a good guy to me - I communicated and did business with him a number of times when Natostrapco was just getting started. Condolences to his family and friends. Here's the post from WUS/FB:

"We are deeply saddened to announce that Jason Taras, the founder of NATO Strap Co., has passed away. Jason ran the company with passion and enthusiasm and built a personal relationship with many of his customers. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time."

I apologize to the mods if this is inappropriate in any way, but I know many of us were friends with Jay on WUS. He was a great friend to those on f71 and helped forge a path for some who wanted to turn their hobby into a business. He will be missed.

Very sad. Hasn't he been sick for a while?

Sad news. That is much, much too young. From my few communications with him, he seemed to be a stellar guy. My best wishes to his family.

He has. We talked by phone a few times, before Natostrapco was sold and just after. We share some autoimmune problems and I understood what he was going through. I thought he was a nice guy.

Some thought he was shady, because of Natostrapco issues and later the watch brand he started, but I do believe he was well intended, but health issues got in the way.

As I recall he was a Veteran too.

RIP Jay.

Had a number of conversations with Jay when he had just started NSC. Great guy to deal with and he always assured his customers got the best treatment possible. I wish his family the best during this difficult time.

He was a great guy to deal with in the past.

He left way to young.

I remember ordering a strap from him when he started the venture, then he fell ill and there was a massive delay in sending the orders to people.
He sent me two straps, one as compensation for the delay which I thought was very nice of him.
My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

That's to bad. I bought a couple straps from him when he first started out.
