Not if you are trying to sell one...30-40 cents on the dollar these days...

I always forget that they are independent in the first place.

I'm referring to change in leadership. I'm hoping this will lead to better designs of new models. With the exception of very few new iterations, the new lineup sucks.

Re: Breitling to be sold to private equity firm
There have always been a handful of models I've liked, but something always keeps me from actually buying one.

I've always liked the Colt Chronograph Blacksteel. The DLC finish solves the shininess problem. At the right price I'd consider picking one up but something else always seems to win out.Joeprez wrote:^ They're huge and too shiny.

PVD watches never stick in my collection, but I've always liked this model, but with the blue dial:

I like that... But I'm totally biased. Most of their new stuff I'm not interested in.Joeprez wrote:PVD watches never stick in my collection, but I've always liked this model, but with the blue dial:

Nothing good happens when private equity firms get involved. First hand experience....

I believe you bought that steelfish from me. I bought it from Mike. Wonder what happened to it?cdnwatchguy wrote:I have owned a few Breitling over the years. None stuck for very long.

I think they have ruined the Superocean as well as the Blackbird, but the Navitimer, Chronomat Airborne, and Avenger Series are still solid.

Trade in values are way down and try selling one on any of the forums...I hope you are right about leadership although, I hope these new owners don't do what Anonimo did...

This. Also, the aerospace is lovely.jimyritz wrote:I think they have ruined the Superocean as well as the Blackbird, but the Navitimer, Chronomat Airborne, and Avenger Series are still solid.
Breitling has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. I'd like to see them get their shit right and flourish under new ownership.

Re: Breitling to be sold to private equity firm
Meh. Their resale value has sucked for at least 5 years, but if anything, their classic models have appreciated. The newer models drop terribly (most for good reason), but probably not much worse than Omega or IWC.jimyritz wrote:===================streetracer101 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2017 5:07 amWhat do you mean?jimyritz wrote:===========================streetracer101 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2017 3:39 amI think this a good thing.

Invicta missed their chance... Would have been a big, blingy, match made in heaven.

Had to do a double take when I saw CVC in the link it looked like QVC and I thought O-NO Breitling going to be sold side by side with Invicta on QVC on TV then I looked again and noticed CVC thank god So mite not be bad after all. Looked like some one above was thinking the same thing.
