No. It was on TRF. There are a decent number of patek horror stories on there.

Re: Patek Diver at Basel
that's like any watch. there was a moron from Australia on there or WUS, timetide something, anyway he put on a self adhesive sticker on Pelagos crystal for no good reason, maybe like a screen protector... and after he removed it he claimed that Pelagos fogged up but it was glue residue from the sticker, idiot
Re: Patek Diver at Basel
Happened on my 2 year old 5712 as well. But to be frank, it was my fault - I forgot I was wearing it during a pool party - for some reason I thought I had a Sea Dweller on .JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2017 8:54 amSomeone flooded a 1.5 year old nautilus and ruined it. Re: Patek Diver at Basel
It's simply poor water resistance (rated to 60m) - usually, I don't like to take anything less than 200m into shower or pool. Washing hands is fine, but not full submersion.hoppyjr wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2017 1:30 pmCrown unscrewed?blkgsl wrote:Happened on my 2 year old 5712 as well. Re: Patek Diver at Basel
Wow. One would think 60m would be sufficient for pool duty. That sucks.blkgsl wrote:It's simply poor water resistance (rated to 60m) - usually, I don't like to take anything less than 200m into shower or pool. Never thought I'd see those two (especially the SNK) next to each other helping out with the same thing. Really cool shot btw.

I remember enjoying those. I have a 10 year old kinetic diver that I did a bunch of tests on several years back. And this was after having the case back opened a few times and not relubing the original gaskets. Put it through the heat cycle in my dishwasher and threw my clothes washer and not a hint of fog.Seppia wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2017 12:13 amThe "can't shower with watch XYZ" threads are my pet peeve.
So much I made a series of posts diving with 30m WR watches just to troll.
You can probably find the first one on wus in the dive watch sub forum, if I'm not mistaken it's called "can I dive with a 30m wr watch"
Or something.

What's the point of a water resistance rating if it's blatantly inaccurate? A watch rated at 10m should be able to survive being submerged in a pool.hoppyjr wrote:Wow. Meh, this one looks bland to me. And I don't care for the generic numbers on the dial.
Re: Patek Diver at Basel
I inadvertently jumped into a pool while wearing my Speedy Pro. 50m WR. Got out as soon as I realized it but no problems ensued. Unlike that experience, I fogged up my Seamaster Bond twice (!) in hot tubs.streetracer101 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2017 5:04 amWhat's the point of a water resistance rating if it's blatantly inaccurate? only accurate watches are interesting
Re: Patek Diver at Basel
Yeah, fwiw, I look at this as a guideline and assume it stands true when watch is new. As watch ages, go up on the "meter rating" accordingly. As a result, I like to use 200m as a rough guideline for pool activity . Likely overly cautious, but at least I'm not authoring a thread on WUS asking whether splashback from toilet is within tolerance for a Ball Skin Diver!

RE: seals - I wore a Seiko 6159-7010 diving for 18+years without service of any kind. Kept COSC time and didn't leak as deep as 110' salt water. The problem is not with the PP's seals, its the quality and design of the watch.
