A bunch of new Nomoses @ Baselworld

Post by TimelessLuxWatches » Wed Mar 22, 2017 8:13 am

The first Nomos news to take a look at is their new Aqua line. These are very casual and brightly colored watches that are water resistant to 200 meters. Instead of being an entirely distinct line of watches, Aqua is more like Neomatik, in that it’s a new style and approach that has representatives in multiple different lines of Nomoses like Ahoi and Club. Many of the new watches have also adopted the new Neomatik movement (DUW 3001).

The second set of watches to take a look at is the all-new Campus line. The best way I can describe Campus is to say that it’s something of a hybrid between the Ludwig, the Club and the Ahoi. They’re all sporty and have an almost military feel to their bold inverted California dial layout. And yes, that is a healthy dose of lume on the dial. At the moment there are apparently three models in the line, all aimed at younger Nomos collectors.

I'm a big Nomos fan, but I think they really shit the bed on these releases. It's like the design department took a really long vacation, realized that Basel was around the corner, and then came up with these overnight with the help of some 5 year old children. Bummer.

Shit, but kudos for the matching date wheel on the ugly blue ones.

You're a GS dealer right? What's the deal with their new logo?

That's the best they could do in a year, huh? Damnit.

I actually haven't even been able to see it yet.

James downing (or whatever) had a picture on his twitter. I'm not sure it was an improvement.

I am sure I am wrong for this, but I kinda like the teal Aqua version. Perfect for summer watch.

I kind of like these. I wonder what the sizes will be.

Other than the typical lug gap, I kinda like them as well for what they are. A sporty, fun Nomos.

For whatever reason large gaps between the strap and case reminds me of people wearing high water pants. Just doesn't look good.

Ugh. Very un-Nomos releases. :puke:

Looks like they hired Shinola's design department.

No Danny comments ??

Don't think I'd wear it but they look like great watches for the females. The white dial ones are nice for the wives

This model looks promising. It's 37mm w/large dial, has in-house movement and looks great on nato. MSRP is about $3400, so it will probably settle down around $2000 when the smoke clears. All the new Nomos models are up on their site now.

I have to admit that I view nomos differently after that sniveling New Yorker article. These watches are perfect if you think of the brand as targeted at the metro sexual dipshit market.

I might be a dipshit, but I am the farthest thing from metro. Homo maybe, metro no.

I like the brand too for a lot of reasons. However, the whole vibe of that guy's recollection of his interactions with Nomos was off putting.

I liked the thought of them as a plucky manufacture of forum guy watches. The reality seems far different.

Meh. That was just him being artistic. I am sure he's not a giant puss in real life  .

My wife really likes her two Nomos watches. To the best of my knowledge she is not a homo.
