Looks matte to me.
Cyclops still ruins it.

That's a great Submariner 2, but a pretty crappy sea dweller.

Re: New 43mm Sea Dweller out...
Did they just make the case bigger? And leave the dial the same?

Anyone notice it has the new 3235 movement? The improvements include "It incorporates the new Chronergy escapement patented by Rolex, which combines high energy efficiency with great dependability. Made of nickel-phosphorus, it is also insensitive to magnetic interference."

Makes sense to give it a larger case to differentiate it from the SubC, but the cyclops and glossy dial thwarts that plan.
Overall, not for me. Very happy with my 40mm SubC, have no interest in a larger version whatsoever.

If this watch means that they will de-fuck the sub case back to non-square dimensions it might be a win for me.
Re: New 43mm Sea Dweller out...
Hmmm, bump up in size is a negative for me, since my sweet spot is around 40mm.
Red lettering is nice, but a cyclops on a SD?!?! WTF Rolex?

Sea Dweller = Sub XL now. I wish they would have just done this exact watch as a single red Submariner 2, and left the SD name as a throwback model. Bastardizing the history of your watch is a strange way to celebrate an anniversary.

The 116600 is the true 50th anniversary model in my eyes, it's just came a few years earlyJP Chestnut wrote:Sea Dweller = Sub XL now. It will be interesting to see what happens to these on the second hand market. It's an extremely low production run for Rolex. Could be nothing, but at least they won't go down. Regardless, it's meaningless to me since I see mine as a true keeper.
